Why can't school be simple...honestly I was blessed to have gone to a good public school, but today I don't even know if one exists. I can't even say if my own school is still a good one or not I haven't been there in years but I do know that the recent decline in safety and educational standards in public schools is a great reason to both educate our children at home and to get some "real" legislation to help these schools become what they should be!

Holy Cow! DH and I were talking the other day about how in High School our biggest worries were the "hoods" who smoked in the bathroom at lunctime. And you knew not to go into that bathroom.

The worst offense any kid did was pulling a fire alarm.

As I live here in GA, I heard this on the news. I am so glad my kids are home with me.

Where do kids come up with this stuff? What are their parents teaching them or letting them watch? This is so sad.

What is really sad to me is not just the fact that they were able to contrive this plan on their own, and assemble all the items needed. But that there were so many kids willing to be led into such a horrible thing!

Some of the comments on the article are just as disturbing. The one about putting a needle in a the arms of any criminal of any age. Whoa.

A teacher commented that kids in his 2nd grade class watch CSI. I know some teachers at my church, they have been astrounded by the things kids are allowed to watch on tv. Parents are just sick and selfish with what they watch around children. Not that I am solely blaming the tv.

Yea, I heard that on the news I was in shock. My stars then people say why do you homeschool, it wouldn't happen here, give it time it's coming.
    So scary.

Then I heard on the news today that nothing can happen to them they are to young. They can't go to court, so will be up to the parents to puish them.

Yea, Like I would trust the these parents to do it.
Maybe it's just me but why would you let the parent hand out there puishment. When they are letting there children do this. Some might say they didn't know there kids were involved. Well where are these learning this stuff, tv, parents. They have to be learning it some where.

Sure, glad my girls are home with me.

I read this story today and this one Psychiatrist that she thinks they wouldnt have gone through with it being so young.

hmmm yah....well....They had it planned on to what kid was going to do what, all it would take would be one to start it off.

Could you imagine if it was another kid in the class they were going to do this too like a class bully or someone not popular?

This is soooo shocking. These kids have no conscious to even think of something like this, which makes me wonder about the parents.

    Just another reason to homeschool

I know. I have a hard time with the theory that they wouldn't have gone through with it. How can they know that for sure?

The psychologist on our news tonight said that chances are it was one main perpetrator and the participation of the others was probably a "Follow the leader of the pack" mentality. Hearing that was not a comfort to me, but rather a very disturbing indicator of the kinds of things more impressionable kids are being asked to "follow along with" in school these days.

It's all so very sad and disturbing...

I have to agree, where do they get they wouldn't go through with it, they had everything planned out well down to the T and all the stuff they need.

I believe they would of gone through with it if they could of...

Age has nothing to do with, I believe they knew what they were doing and when they were going to do it.

Wow! I am just reading this and it is just insane that children that young could be so vicious and evil! Ya know the other day something someone said made me question my decision to homeschool through high school. If 8 & 9 year olds have the capacity to plot something of this magnitude I don't want my kids anywhere near a public school. This article has reminded me of a main reason I chose to hs to begin with. Thank God for the freedom to do so.

Yes, they ARE old enough to plot and follow through with these things! There have been stories of gangs in New York (I'm sure it happens other places, this is just the place I read about), where the 8 and 9 year olds would do horrible things because of their gang mentality, and it was horrible to read all that they would do! They wanted to do things that would get them noticed so they could be in the "real" gangs when they got older!

What I read was happening 30 or more years ago, so it's not a new thing, and especially a psychologist should know that!!!

That's one reason why the world is in such bad shape now. The laws and rules against disciplining the kids for thing, "because they're too young to have any malicious meaning or to really follow through with it"!

The more God is taken out of society, the worse the world gets!

Coming from the other side can you imagine being the teacher & hearing this was going to happen to you!!! Ugh.... I think I'd run outta there!!!

Definately scary!!! When I was in school I wasn't worried so much of what would happen to me at school...being sent to the principal's office & losing recess, but WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AT HOME!!! There is just no discipline now.... respect for anyone older is out the window!!!

Sadly, I wonder if having this all over the news will give other vulnerable kids ideas.....
