That is very disturbing. I don't know how I would handle this situation, but I would make it my goal to make sure that women never worked with children again.

I'm glad the school took her out of the classroom and hopefully will never allow her to teach again.

That poor child, this will haunt him for a long time. What was that teacher thinking...last time I checked it was a teacher's job to educate children, and be tolerant to help the children. This really bothers me, I am so glad that my boys won't have to be subjected to this.

This is so very wrong on many levels! This "teacher" should never be allowed in a classroom again. Did she think that humiliating this little boy was positive socialization for him and the class? I am really upset by this, I cannot imagine how the child or his parents must feel.

I feel so sad for this boy and his family. I hope the family can work with the boy to help him get through his negative feelings. Why on earth would a teacher treat a child that way?

I thought my son's kindergarten teacher was unkind. This lady is much much worse though.

The teacher should be replaced. I can't believe a human being would treat another one that way let alone a person who says that they are a teacher. I know Vicki has a lot of problems. She has mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety, and several other things. I would have stranggled that teacher. I know emotionally it will be hard for that little boy. My prayers are with that little boy and his family.

That made me feel sick! That poor little boy!

There's a child in our family who is either autistic or has Asperger's (but his mother chooses to pretend it doesn't exist instead of having him evaluated and getting help...that's another post, though...)

He is SO hard to deal with, impossible at times, but I could never, ever imagine subjecting him to that kind of humiliation.

I pray that the Lord heals that poor child's heart.

If this is true then I don't think she should have been reassigned. They need to at least put her on leave without pay till they get to the bottom of it.

The sad thing is that it seems to be almost impossible for a school to fire a teacher. Too bad she isn't in my area. They are laying teachers off around here anyway and could have easily let her go.

Is this the one that was on the news this morning? They played the recorded message and you could plainly hear the teacher calling the kid selfish, ignorant...etc. The parents put the recording device somewhere on him. They showed some of his school work and their are comments on the pages of him talking constantly. Also mentioning he has been in trouble before.

School IS for children to sit down at a desk and be quiet most of the day...Maybe they could hs him?

I believe that was a different incident from this story (possibly autistic boy getting voted out of class).

Here is the story you are probably referring to.....

I feel badly for the child - I'm sure it hurt him a lot. That being said, I'm not convinced the teacher should be fired. Honestly, I really don't know what happened, and I will withhold judgement until I know the facts (and given the fact that I most llikely will never know the facts, I'll withhold judgement forever)

What I'm hoping happened is that the teacher was holding a class meeting to discuss concerns the kids have. I've done that with my own classes and it works wonderfully!! Some kids don't know their behavior is inappropriate, but when it is discussed respectfully in the classroom and all the kids have a chance to say how the bahavior made them feel - a lot of kids learn a lot from it. That's what I HOPE happened, and the kid took it wrong. (Wrong isn't really the word I want here, because he took it how he took it and that's the way it is. But I'm hoping he took it differently from how the teacher intended for it to happen - does that make sense??)

I just think the news reports are very biased against teachers and will villify teachers every chance they get. I'd like to know the rest of the story.

If the teacher did in fact do what she is being accused of then she should be dismissed. I don't think it matters what the child did. He is a child and she is an adult and she should know better. But then again, maybe there is more to this story. Perhaps this isn't how things were at all.

I understand what you're saying, but I feel it should have been handled in a much different manner. If a child bothers another child, then both children should be taken aside to discuss the problem. It is at that time that the
Teacher should have the child tell the other child how what happened made them feel and etc.... It should happen on a case-by-case basis, and not by putting this one child up in front of the whole class so they can verbally abuse him and then vote him out. That is just wrong on so many levels and I feel so bad for this little boy.

I worked in the ps as a instructional aide for several years. You would not believe the things that go on there. The teacher's union finds ways to bury all sorts of stuff. Our children are like lambs at slaughter. Anyone who thinks their school is perfect needs to work in it to get their eyes opened. That's why I hs my DS.
