We are currently in a big unit from The Great Plant Escape. This week we are looking at soil. Would anyone be willing to send us a soil sample from your area? Just a spoonful might work. Maybe send a few details about your area, the recent weather, etc. PM me and I'll give you our address. Thanks in advance.
Becky, we have a thick layer of hard pan because we hardly get any rain so the minerals collect and harden. I would be happy to send you a piece if you are still interested. I can also send you some humus from the garden.
Thanks to everyone! I didn't realize I got any answers, cause I wasn't getting emails telling me there were any! PM me, everyone, and I'll give you our address. I'll also mail you stamps to cover the postage you spent.
I just deleted a whole bunch of pms about soil samples!! GRRRR! Please pm me again, everybody, sorry about that.
How many did you & Jeannie end up getting, Becky? And do you plan to share your fabulous experiment with us??? Yes???
None have arrived yet, PH. We're not really doing an experiment, we're comparing soils in different locations. I hope to get a big US map and hang each sample n the state it came from, and look up the usual conditions there. I'm not sure what all to do with it yet, but it's supposed to give Jeannie an idea of what it's like around the country.
Becky, I hope you keep all these dirt samples for your next evaluation. Think of the joy you'll get in dumping all that dirt on the evaluator's lap. That way, he can truly get a hands-on feel of the nitty gritty of your homeschool year.
Would love to send a sample from here in western NC but I'm still not good at figuring out all these abreveations. What's PM?
sorry I lagged out, I will get it in the main tomorrow been in a pile of stuff to deal with this week, TM
Heather, It means to send her a private message. Click on her name and it will show you where to click to send a pm. Beth
