What curriculum have you chosen for this school year? If you have started your school year already, how are your choices working?
LOL, that should be PLURAL!!! Teaching Textbooks is working very well for Phillip. Around the World in 180 Days is doing OK for us, though I'm doing a lot of supplementing, but it's designed to do that with. Those are the two big ones!
Mine's in my siggy. So far, they're all working out great, except that we're switching from the 7 book student edition of SS to the 2 book adult version. Same thing, only condensed and much cheaper. It hasn't come in yet.

So far so good this year! We started Aug 23rd and finished our 2nd week today. We are using My Father's World Exploring Countries and Cultures as our base for Bible, Geography, Science and Literature. We use Easy Grammar (again for this year!), LOVE IT. My two oldest are using Teaching Textbooks, again, LOVE IT! We just started Vocab from Classical Roots - my oldest is EATING IT! She's doing a lesson a day! She LOVES it - she feels like language is being explained to her. I love that. My youngest is using Horizon's Kinder Math - and we are adoring it! Also, A Reason for Handwriting K writing for her is great. And my middle's using D...and seems to enjoy it okay because it's not a lot of writing....and boys and writing don't mix!!! We are starting IEW when we get back from vacation, I'm VERY curious to see how that works for them. Happy School Year ALL!!!

So far our year is pretty good, grammar has been the trouble maker this year LOL! but they are liking the BJU so far so hopefully it works. I think they are more workbook-y kids than I am so I have to remember to keep to the workbooks!

6th grader TT7 Writing Strands (redoing 3.. he hates writing) Prentice Hall Science Explorer These are all working, we have dumped Caught Ya Grammar, I like it but because I'm not great with grammar I found it was a HUGE amount of work for me to learn each day so I could teach him why he should punctuate that and capitalize that. I'm not sure if we will be using Language Fundamentals from Evan Moor (we have a teacherfilebox.com membership and they are on there). We are also going to do some world geography this year when I finish putting it together, and he is studying PA history. K McRuffy Phonics K (Only Ry is doing this) ETC Primers (Reagan is doing these) McRuffy Math K (both) Funtastic Frogs Math (both) McRuffy Science (both) This is all working for the littles and no changes are in the works. We are using: Older daughter Teaching Textbooks Algebra... LOVE IT!!! SOS History, LA, Science, 20th Century History...LOVE IT!! Lifepac Bible Younger daughter: Explode the Code book 1.5 ....LOVE IT!! CLE math level 1...We started the year using Math U See Alpha but it wasnt working for DD, so we just started the CLE and she loves it. A Reason For Handwriting Book.... A LOVE IT!!! We started this mid year last year and she enjoys it. R.E.A.L Science Odyssey Earth and Space... another hit. My daughter LOVES science. Lifepac LA grade 1. I like the lifepacs, but after using Explode the Code it seems to be very easy and a grade behind. Draw Write Now... LOVE IT!! Lifepac Bible grade 1. LOVE IT!! Story of the World vol 1. I bought the book, activity book and CD's. We are not doing the entire program yet. We had a 13 hr car ride and we listened to the entire CD set. I really enjoyed it, my kids liked it and my husband was ready to hang himself by the time it was over. Today we were reading in the bible the story of Jacob and Josephs coat of many colors and my daughter remembered the story from the SOTW CD's. I think we will start the book/activity book soon. Just ordered the CLE Social Studies for grade 1. It looks like something my daughter will like. ClickNkids... LOVE IT! All about Spelling... just doing the phonograms once or twice a week, not the entire program yet.
Well we are only finishing our second week but this is what we are using: History: Sonlight Core 2 - going pretty well. Dd likes most of it but tolerates CHOW (which I like). She absolutely loves Geograhpy Songs. LA: Sonlight 2 for intermediate readers. That is going well. Some of it is a little slow right now but I know it will pick up. The spelling words seem much harder this year so that will need a little more practice. Bible: Sonlight Core 2 and BJU Bible Truths 2 That is going pretty well. Sonlight is the main Bible reading and I am using BJU to just get some more practical looking things up and such. Science: Sonlight 2 so far so good, mainly just learning about animals at this point. Math: Horizons 3 - dd is doing great with that Song School Latin: Latin is dd's favorite subject so far this year. Artistic Pursuits: Dd really is enjoying that Music: Usborne learn to play recorder (not sure of exact title) so far so good Handwriting: A Reason for Handwriting..dd keeps rushing it. I told her today if she does not slow down she will have to redo it and we will not move onto cursive until I see her printing correctly (she really wants to learn cursive) I think that is it.
We have not started yet: September 28 is our big day! DD will be preschool this year. After many, many hours spent pouring over curriculum and then wondering why I went to that much trouble, this is what I came up with: Hooked on Phonics Pre-k Level 1 Before Five in a Row Sid the Science Kid (watch and review orally) She love this and watches it now anyway. Starfall.com Math/logic/etc. from various dollar store workbooks and free worksheets online put into a wipe-off book for reuse Leapfrog DVD's (Letter Factory, Let's go to School, Talking Words Factory) Various crafts, lessons, and games from free websites

"7th grader" boy: Bible: R&S Reading 2 (finishing up from last year) Reading: Pathways Reader 2-3 English: R&S 3 Spelling: CLASS 3 Phonics: finishing up R&S 2 from last year Penmanship: Pentime 5 Math: CLE 400 Science: finishing R&S 3 from last year History: finishing CLASS 2 from last year Sequential Spelling Draw Write Now When we finish science, we'll start Considering God's Creation. When we finish History, we'll do R&S 3 which is Understanding Our Community (and we'll do lots of little local field trips with it). We'll also add Geography, with little units I'm getting from the internet. When we finish R&S Reading 2 that we're using for Bible, we'll probably do 3, but we may change to something else. 7yog Second Grade: Bible: finishing CLE 1 from last year Reading: finishing CLE 1 from last year English: R&S 2 Spelling: CLASS 2 Penmanship: Pentime 2 (transition to cursive) Math: CLE 200 Science: finishing CLE 1 from last year Social Studies: finishing CLE 1 from last year Sequential Spelling Draw Write Now This child came to us in February of first grade, so we focused on LA and Math mostly and finished ALL of LA 1, and the last 6 out of 10 math units. After we finish up Bible 1, we'll do Bible 2. After Reading 1, we'll get into Pathways 2 (three readers). After Science, we'll be doing Considering God's Creation along with the boy, and we'll also be doing the Geography units along with him too. After finishing Social Studies 1, we'll probably do CLASS K/1/2 (one or all of those). 9th grade girl: She'll be starting Tuesday - and at this point, I have absolutely NO idea what to do with her. She's been with us before, but her grandma says this time it'll be for good. She says she's passed all her 8th grade state tests, but she was in Resource Room with IEP services for math and LA, so I have no idea where she really is. Two years ago, in 7th grade, she was in my Saxon Math 54 and wasn't handling R&S 6 English very well. I'll have to get her records from her middle school, and do my placement testing...
