Here's giving a shout out to all those little homeschool perks that we usually don't think about.

    For instance:
Right now, all four of my boys are sleeping. At 10 am. They did not sleep in, but decided about an hour ago that they needed to go back to bed. So one's on the loveseat, one's on the couch, one's in his bed, and the baby is in my bed. If they (well, the two old enough) were in public school they would have had to ignore their bodies' cues and attempt to trudge through the day, probably getting yelled at for putting their heads on their desks.

My "random perk" for the day is, I just got back from getting my hair cut, by myself! I left the youngest two home with one of the older DS. If the older two ds where in ps, I would have to take the little ones with me.

My random perk is that when my boys are hungry they can eat! Doesn't matter what they are doing, they can get up and eat, which makes them better able to learn because their bellies are full and their brain has energy. :)

It is 12:35 here, and I'm still in my PJ's!!! Even with homeschooling, this is a rare perk for me, as we're usually running all over. Today I'm suppose to have science co-op here, but the gal teaching has her son's b-day party tomorrow and begged off. (There's only three of us, so we can be accomodating!) Phillip's gone, but the girls and I are all still in PJ's!!!

Perks huh? Kids help me clean, get to cuddle late in bed, no rush to iron clothes, no packing of lunches, no signing of agenda books for kids in grade one! Endless conversation with smart little people :), funny jokes all day long, no waiting for the always late school bus, and the very best perk is being able to teach them in a fun and enjoyable way. I love teaching them :)

Ours - our oldest has been missing his dad lately during the day. Dad's coming home from work early today....and schooling can WAIT for another day.

I just love not having to get up so early to get ready for ps. Today's perk, along with sleeping in a little, was making cookies with ds and calling it school.

Our random perk is that we can take a day off in the middle of the week when we need a break and then have school on Sat. while daddy is working. I love being able to move days around to suit our schedule.

Faythe can go and help her g'ma (whose health is not good) clean house on a school day. Faythe is getting paid a little to do this, plus she also benefits by spending time with my mom.

I love that we can take our break/lunch swimming in the pool while it is in the 80-90's and still call it PE!

8 hours!?! Wow!! In PS around here they only get 50 min, and in private only get less than 2. (And they blame the food in the cafeteria for the weight issues... but that's another thread.)
I wonder, do y'all only count it as PE if it's a game with rules they are playing? I count trampoline time, biking, swinging, karate, kicking the ball around the yard with me, anything physical really.

yep, Anything even walking if you track how many hours you are doing it counts as PE, our private school teacher explained to me what counts, he homeschooled his own kids so that helps
