I'm between Athens and Gainsville and our snow started around 10pm, and it snowed until about 5 am. Then it lightly sleeted on and off all day yesterday. Now we have a nice layer of ice with snow below it
It's coming down steady right now. I am SO thankful I don't have to drive in it during Rush Hour today!!! It wa bad enough getting home just a half-hour ago! It also helps that we have 4-wheel drive on the van!
Thanks! Those are great. We have about 3-4 feet of snow and deer tracks going all through the snow in the front yard. It is beautiful, but am still ready for it to be gone. I don't like the beach either!
We got about 3 inches. The problem isn't amount, it's that our city just ignores it until it goes away. But it's so cold that it's now all packed down and slick. And the busy roads are terrible because it melted and refroze.
I LOVE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :love: We are also in NJ, and are looking forward to snow tomorrow. I live on a hill.(They call it a mountain here.) Having a 4WD Suburban makes driving in the snow easy, especially since we live in a rural area, and our roads don't get as much attention. Here are some pics from last year. I really would miss snow if we lived in a warmer place. Thee is nothing prettier than when the sun comes out after a snow storm, and nothing makes the kids happier than to play in the snow (Mom included. :lol
A picturesque scene fresh after a snow storm is one thing, but what about the months of wet, dirty, gray sludge that follow? Is the former worth the latter?
I'm so jellous. I miss the snow. My mom has been stuck in FL. for an extra 2 days from the bad weather.
Months of sludge? LOL Really? We're you in GA in 93? We lived in Canton GA for the blizzard of '93 and even that was totally gone after a couple of weeks. And we had snow 5 foot deep in places then. New Jersey was mentioned, so I was thinking of there rather than Georgia. Yes, we remember the blizzard of '93. We had moved to Atlanta a couple of years earlier.
I totally hear you. Starting usually mid February and lasting through May we move in and out of freezing and thawing and with the help of our wonderful long haired dog, our backyard becomes a muddy path maze. However, I do love the snow and the mud would come regardless.
It depends on the day for me... if I'm home and snuggled in, snow doesn't bother me a whole lot but yesterday I was traveling in that mess and wasn't overly fond of it (a 2 hour drive on good roads took me 4 hours to get home yesterday but "in everything give thanks" we all made it home safe and sound). I can imagine some excitement maybe for those who live south and don't usually see snow but then I can almost imagine pandemonium (?sp) too from the panic it would cause (am I wrong in saying that most southern states aren't prepared for storms because snow isn't so common?). Be safe and enjoy the snow. I can only imagine the excitement of your children as they see this blanket of white stuff they wouldn't normally see.
