Our kitchen has this weird space above the stove/microwave there is a hole and a board that goes behind it-a nice size rectangle. I had my husband remove that board 2 1/4 years ago when we bought the house so I could paint it.....It has yet to be painted! LOL Anyway-a family we used to be friends with had a Bible verse painted across their kitchen "taste and see that the Lord is good...." I thought that was such a cool idea, I'd like to do that with our little space, just on a much smaller version. Anyway I can't decide on a verse. Prov 15:17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, Than a fatted calf with hatred. 1Cr 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Ps 111:5a He has given food to those who fear Him I'm leaning toward Proverbs 15:17-what do you guys think?
I am with Birbitt and I think sounds more like a loving positive message. The word hatred albeit I see the meaning behind it wouldn't be a word I want to look at daily. And the last again the word fear has negativity attached to it. Whatever you decide I like the idea.
What about Ecclesiastes 9:7...."Go then, eat your bread in happiness, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works." Here are some others I found: Genesis 26:30 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. Matthew 9:38/Luke 10:2 ....pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest... Acts 14:17...filling our hearts with food and gladness.
Of your original choices, I prefer 1 Corinthians 10:31. A close second would be Ecclesiastes 9:7. Then again, I make wine, so I'm partial to verses that shed a good light on wine
ooooo I like that! This is SUCH a hard decision! LOL And I agree I really like the MEANING behind Prov 15:17 BUT I'm not sure I want the word 'hatred' hanging above my stove every day..... We don't drink (hubby was an alcoholic before we met) so I'm going to shy away from any verse with the word 'wine' in it.... or maybe And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 1Tim 6:8
that is hard maybe having little boards or something with all of the around the kitchen. That would look neat.
Oooooo....I like that idea Kris! This whole conversation motivated me to clean and rearrange the kitchen counters, which led to hanging pictures, which is leading to thinking about scripture on my walls.
I've decided on Acts 14:17...filling our hearts with food and gladness. I've painted the background (or maybe just part of it-haven't decided yet exactly) and letting it dry before I add the wording.
I wish I could make decisions as quickly as you! (well, I did meet and marry my husband in less than a week, but I just can't commit to where to hang pictures! ) I got my whole kitchen torn apart and here I sit cuz I don't know where to put the toaster oven.
What a great idea. I like Brooke am now thinking about re-arranging my kitchen so I can put up scripture. I like 1Cr 10:31 best. Coming back to edit. I see you have decided. That will be nice. Can you post pics when you are done? How are you doing the lettering? Do you have stencils?
Well...you didn't post that one to vote on!!! LOL I like it! And...I might steal your idea.
I have a "doorway" into our kitchen, it just doesn't have a door. Maybe I'll put one of them up above it..only I have to use vinal because we rent...but thats ok!
1Cr 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. I did like this one best from the orginal verses but I like the one you picked as well. Thanks for the ideas! You all are a wealth of knowledge!
