I have not been here for a while to notice how Report Cards are dealt with during summer since some of us dont school through summer or take longer breaks. Please excuse me if you guys have some rules posting Reports Cards during summer. Here is our at the end of July. {ReportCard}
I don't do anything worth grading in the summer. Just reading and review. The rest of the year, I write up more of a progress report every nine weeks listing what we did, books read, projects, comments, and all our grades.
I watched the videos and am impressed. He does a Very Good Job. His writing is great for a 5 year old boy. His Math is very good, too. All lined up. I loved his gymnastics. I know I can't bend like that anymore. Tell him Great Job!!! Keep it up. You are a very good teacher, too
Hmm... We don't do school during the summer. But even during the school year, when I tried to do report cards, it quickly became apparent that they were pretty pointless. If my kids miss more than one or two, I make them redo the missed problems for half credit. And we didn't have enough 'graded' assignments for there to be consistant numbers to add up. We don't move on until I know they'll get close to 100 on the test, so again... not much point. Because they asked, i did make up report cards once this past year... all As for both LOL. We also handle a lot of our subjects in discussions, so although I DO give tests on material, they are few and far between.
Our Report Card is mainly what we were up to I dont grade anything we move on whever is time to move on also
I don't do report cards. Last year my oldest began high school so that was the first time we kept track of grades and created a transcript. As for the younger kids we've never had to report to anyone so grades are pointless. Anything that is less than, say, 70% we redo anyway. As for recordkeeping, I do keep a journal where I write down what each kid accomplishes daily and I keep all their work in an accordian file.
I do this as well. I also have a monthly plan, so I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing each month. As we complete it, I check it off.
Nice job! We are schooling this summer, but I am not giving grades. My oldest DD is coming out of a private school and I am working on de-schooling her, so grades and tests are not a part of our summer work.
