Phillip can't do this, because he has older sisters. But even if he could, he wouldn't. He'd FREEZE, lol!!!

Ds and dh both run hot, so my house is always so cold I am wearing a sweat shirt and socks no matter what time of year it is. If it is not cold, they actually get cranky and sweaty. It is funny in the summer because I will be inside all bundled up and then step outside and realize it is in the 90s.

I've been given nice "muscle shirts" for Phillip; he won't wear them for ANYTHING, even if it were 100° outside! (Maybe because of his lack of muscles...?)

Thanks everybody, for all the responses. It's interesting to hear all of your thoughts. I think just by posting this it has caused me to be more aware.

I think, like Sonita, I feel lazier when I'm not fixed up. Not everyone feels that way, obviously, but it's what I've been struggling with lately. Also, like others mentioned, I want to get fixed up for my dh, not just when I'll be seeing folks outside the house. I have even begun to worry about my kids seeing me not taking care of myself. I don't want to look like a mess to the all the time. I may not look in the mirror until noon, but they've been looking at me all morning, and I'd like what they're looking at to be not too scary!

But that's just me. I totally understand about the more relaxed approach. One of the things I changed since posting this, was to change the time of my shower. Rather than showering right before bed, I now shower earlier in the evening. Then by bedtime, my hair is almost dry and it's not a wild mess in the morning.

    Thanks for sharing, everybody!

I shower first thing in the morning, it's like my morning coffee. If I don't shower, I don't get going. I get dressed, put on some concealer, and mascara. When my hair dries, I put half of it up in a clip. I wear skirts and t-shirts around the house. If I am going out I put on a nicer skirt, nicer skirt and a little more make-up. Before I started wearing make-up in my teen years, my brother tried to talk me into never starting to wear it. I really wish I would have listened to him. I don't wear much, but wish I didn't wear any.

I think the last time I wore make-up was on my wedding day. My bff did my face the day before, and about had me in tears. "I CAN'T LOOK LIKE THAT!!! IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE MEEEEEEEEE!!!!" So she didn't use near as much for the actual wedding, lol!

I tell myself when I am going through an I don't want to take the time stage that my Handsome promised to look at only me and YES he has to have integrity to do so. My point is, I do have a responsibility for myself and what am I giving him to look at?
This isn't to say that I have to be covered in makeup or fancy clothes. Rather, am I taking care of my appearance? Am I clean? Am I groomed? Do I need a shower? A person can have tons of makeup on and still be an eyesore! I am not talking about makeup, rather being presentable because I believe there is a difference in be natural/comfortable and presentable, being made-up and presentable, and simply being lazy, dirty, and not giving a hoot what our husbands think. While I will always love my husband, it is nice to see him clean and not living his life in the clothes he slept in on a regular basis.
Not that anybody here does this but I know some women who do stay in the same clothes for a couple of days. Our oldest is actually one of them. Handsome has even asked her nicely if that is how she landed her man. His point being why did she stop caring for her appearance once she got him. He cared how she looked when he met her and he still cares now even if he doesn't say anything. Our oldest never wore makeup but kept herself clean and groomed. After a couple years she tossed it to the wind.

Growing up my mom always told me that if I am going to take the time to look decent for strangers, why on earth would I not take the time to look presentable for the man I love and who promised to set his eyes only on me till death do us part. Some women might not agree with this and that is fine. Again, I am talking about taking the time to be presentable and Amethyst, I like that you mentioned that your children are looking at you all day.

Good point! An Amethyst, you're right in that we are also setting the example for our children. If we are indifferent to our appearance, our children will be, too.
