there is a video of a Dad using FB to teach a lesson to his 15 yr old dd. It has lots of language in it but the hits he is getting! You have to see this...http://www.litefm.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=421220&article=9738000 then go back to his FB page and you can read how He found the note that got him so mad. https://www.facebook.com/tommyjordaniii its kinda crazy
My hubby and I watched it and thought it was great! lol Not the right tactic for everyone I suppose but it was certainly definitive.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the dog, too. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..... Bwa-ha-ha-haaaa!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so going to show this to my kids as a preventative measure! Priceless. I think it's awesome what he did. I was raised the same way.
I'll be sure to show it to Carl tomorrow; he'll appreciate it! And I really appreciated somethings he said on his FB page, including he shouldn't have used the word a** like he did. But I sure respect him for doing something, and not sitting back and letting the girl get away with it! Did you see how he discovered it?
Not yet, but she'll look back someday and smack herself on the forehead. Right now, she's probably more steamed than ever. Maybe he should just pull her out of school and homeschool her. Then she wouldn't have any friends at all.
Actually, if you read some of the stuff on FB, it seems she might have learned. She was amazed at the overwhelming support for her dad, and she and Dad have sat down and discussed the responses, how she felt about them, etc.
I have a friend who posted that the dad was very wrong because he was "provoking his child to anger". I don't agree with that. I think he was making the punishment fit the crime. Children are often angered by consequences to wrong-doings. That comes with our sin nature. I think I would have sold the laptop rather than destroy it (from a financial standpoint) but I totally understand that he was follwing through on a previous discussion. The language should have been cleaned up (He admits that.), but I applaud this dad!
So anytime you punish a child and a child takes offense you are "provoking him to anger"...? I DON'T THINK SO!!! She was angry BEFORE he shot the computer. She was being disrespectful, and he was making it VERY clear that he would NOT toleratae it.
A sin of a public nature requires a public apology. If she'd said all these things to his face, she would've needed to deal with it face to face. She didn't. She blabbed it to the world in a very public way. I don't 100% agree with his methods, but to defend himself publicly and remove her previously earned right to the internet is certainly within his right as a parent. I think she should've been the one to post something, though. She still needs to post some sort of public apology for her words. He's said he would let her have access to do that. ... and yeah, I wouldn't have shot the computer either. Too expensive. I would've at least donated it for the tax deduction.
Update: Here is an update on the dad... http://www.litefm.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=421220&article=9744152 I am amazed at this Dad, He will not take any interview from the Media form this! Way to go Dad!
Honestly this guy seems like a parent who just genuinely wanted to teach his daughter a lesson, to teach her that when he says he'll do something that he really will. He had no idea this many people would be discussing him and his daughter. I almost feel bad for him with all the attention he's getting.
I think he did a great job and the fact that he's getting his "15 minutes" had no factor. He just wanted to be a parent and he did what he said he would, which is a concept a lot of parents nowadays don't understand.
way to go. I think it did a super dad. I think more parents need to be this way. The world is getting so bad we need alot more like him
My dh and I LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (we didn't let the kiddos see it) I'd have to say way to go for this dad. NO I don't agree with his language at all. And I also had to applaud the daughter, after she had a time to cool off; she saw that her dad loved her enough to do this.
I'm from the "old school" and would have done the same thing. Dad even put a bullet in for Mom too. Lol. Edit: I love the update. Dad said we are not going on the news or any talk show. Lol He is so humble with all the media attention him and his family are receiving.
