My HS age daughter reads voraciously, she's reading 2-3 books at any given time, on top of her assigned school reading. It's of all genres. I was wondering if there is a way to put this as an elective course on her transcript and if so what would I call it? I was just curious if I needed to have her do book reports or vocab or anything to make it an elective.
Hi, I gave my daughter credit for "Novel Studies" for her outside reading. That is all that I could think of to call it. The class was not questioned by the university that she is attending. In fact, they did not seem to blink an eye at her home school transcript. I had worried that they would question her grades or ask about her classes. They accepted the transcript without comment---lol. Blessings, Susan
We actually had a class in my PS called... maybe Young Adult Literature? Gosh, now I can't remember! But, there was no criteria for what we read, we just had all period to read whatever we wanted (or needed to for another class, even). I think we did either keep a short journal entry for each book or filled out a simple book report form for each one. I think it's definitely fair game for an elective! (can I just say, justamom, I loooove your children's names! )
