This is a video of a parent being arrested during a school board meeting for asking questions about Common Core. Common Core was the subject being discussed at the time, and the board had asked if anyone had any questions.

We had a similar situation here in our town meeting of the School Board. A few parents stood up to ask questions and the Super Intendant spoke right over their questions, and refused to acknowledge them at first. When other's started standing up about the dismissal of the parents, the Super god very irritated and told them that if they didn't "pipe down" then they would be escorted out. It's not just at big fancy schools. It's at small, Podunk systems as well.

I understand that they may not have had enough "time" to answer all questions so they chose a few, but why was it such a big deal for this guy to speak? So big that they actually called the security guard in that pushed him around and treated him like a criminal for asking a question.. This doesn't surprise me one bit.. I did gather that he didn't actually live in that district anymore.. Am I right?? If so, maybe he was tagged as a trouble maker, or someone who went around to all board meatings and caused a ruckus?? So they saw him coming and wasn't going to deal with him.. Heaven forbid that someone speaks up and tells it how it really is.. Holy moly! This country is going down the tubes FAST!!

I thought I heard him say at the end that his child was a student there?? Maybe he just meant he was a parent in general, and not necessarily at that school? If so, I agree he should've been kicked out. It was none of his business. I don't know. I wasn't there and don't have the whole story.

The meeting organizers made clear upfront how to ask questions, and this guy decided to go about things his own way. If you allow that, meetings would soon become chaotic - to which any meeting organizer would attest. As I see it, Fox News (surprise!) is trying to make an issue out of a non-issue. If a supporter of the CC had done it, there would have been no mention.

So when someone breaks a formality-type rule, we should arrest them?

It depends on the situation, right? From the video, it's clear he would not shut up after being asked several times to do so. Removing someone from the building, and even arresting them, is not uncommon in such situations. It happens around here from time to time at public meetings. If we allow individuals to disrupt meetings in the name of protecting their rights, chaos would ensue.

What bugs me most is the ridiculous bias of Fox News. Right now, one of the main headlines on their site is of someone whose sign supporting the Second Amendment was removed by the police. Quite simply, this was because it was placed within 15 feet of the highway, which clearly violates property laws. Neighbors had complained, and the police were doing their duty. Would Fox News post a story about someone's sign being removed if the topic didn't fit their narrative? Of course not. With MSNBC being a joke on one side, and Fox News being a joke on the other, I'm increasingly tempted to ignore all news sites right now. They are publishing articles in search of knee-jerk reactions, and we duly oblige.

Steve, the board "OK'd" questions beforehand. THEY REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY QUESTIONS THAT THEY FELT WOULD MAKE COMMON CORE LOOK BAD. This is NOT an "open forum", but manipulation of an "open" meeting.

Nowhere have I read that. So, did this guy submit a question ahead of time? Have attendees accused the meeting organizers of selecting questions with obvious bias? That would certainly put a new spin on the story. Maybe you can post a link.

Yes. That's been the point all along. That's exactly what the attendees say happened. They only read the "soft-ball" questions. [This is, of course, according to small, biased news sources. Since those are the only sources available via my searches.]

Look, I'm not taking sides. I wasn't there, so I don't know. I just don't agree that a person can't speak up during a public, non-government meeting without fear of being arrested.

Exactly. Not only did they hand-pick questions that they could answer with a positive spin on Common Core, but they re-worded them as well.

That's quite a claim. Has the accusation been made and independently verified? And did the rewording change the meaning or simply get at the essence of a rambling political statement, for example? Bias is one thing and should be addressed. What concerns me is that Fox News and others are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

This is off topic, but I will agree that Fox News sometimes makes mountains out of molehills! However, at least they are making mountains! :) Main stream media tends to turn mountains into molehills! :(

The good news about the common core issue is that public school parents are starting to wake up and smell the coffee! Any media coverage that gets people to pay attention is a good thing! Most public school parents I know don't know much about common core.

I am glad to know Fox is the only biased news outlet worth mention.

There are things like this happening everyday all across this country, and when concerned Americans stand up we are called biased or worse.

This is America. Robert's Rules of Parliamentary Procedure do not have to apply when they interfere with the Constitution.

A nonagenarian was executed while seated for refusing surgery and the JBT's who shot him lied and said that his shoe horn was a butcher knife. Oh wait, Fox had this did they not.

A child gnaws a cookie into the shape of a gun and is arrested. Another child gets similar treatment for pointing his finger and saying bang while playing cops and robbers on the play ground. More Pro 2A bias.

A man was shot in his sleep because a police raid for drugs entered the wrong house. Smash and Bang raids are taking place more often over situations where no lives are in immediate danger.

And now parents are being prohibited from asking meaningful questions about a massive education reform package that goes far beyond education curriculum in its scope. I know, I know, that silly 1A is another Fox news hang up.

Baaaaht, this was all on FOX so move along sheep, nothing to see here. Baah Baaaah
