What do you recommend for math after a child finishes Algebra 2. My daughter should be in 9th grade if you go by school ps. She's always been advanced in math and is finishing up Algebra 2. What course comes next? What is a good program to use for upper level math? We use switched on schoolhouse but I'm finding as they get higher up it doesn't really explain the math very well. She spend a lot of time looking online how to do it. I'm not even sure what course is after algebra 2 but what ever it is I'm needing something that explains what to do better because I'm not great at math. We use SOS because being a single mom of four homeschoolers it's great that it is easy for them to do on their own with little help. Is there other things out there like this. Thanks so much.
Maybe Saxon Advanced Math? pre-calculus/trigonometry? calculus? Has she done Geometry? I haven't had to use this high a level, so I'm not much help, but I sure hope you find the best that's available!
Teaching Textbooks has geometry and pre-calculus. She can do it totally independently and you can hand it down to the next child. We are on algebra 1 and if you miss a problem 2 times you can click to see the solution explained and worked out. They have great samples on their website. Check it out.
Pre-calc. We also did TT for that. And Math U See has a Calculus program that works similar to TT. Rachael used that her Junior year, and placed into the highest math they had at the Community College her Senior year, so obviously MUS's calc must have been pretty good!
Geometry comes next. We are using TT pre algebra now and will move to algebra I in a few weeks. We love this program
Oh, I guess it depends on which order you do things! I didn't think of it that way. When I was a kid, we did Geometry before Alg. 2, so I was thinking when she asked the question that Geometry had been finished. But yeah, if you do Alg. 2 first, then you'd go on to geometry.
We are doing algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, and pre-calculus. That is the order everyone uses around here.
