Any users? Pros/Cons? Do you really feel it is a full enough curriculum if you only add a math program? It's that time of year again when the catalogs start to come in and I start to doubt. My oldest, 5th, does great with a workbook approach. Most things come very easily to him. He'd prefer to churn out the workbook pages and be done. My middle not so much. She is 1st grade this year and doing ok but is not a workbook kind of gal. She is very visual possibly kinesthetic. Just not the same type learner. Questioning myself more about her than the oldest. My youngest will be kindergarten next year so also wondering about putting the 5 and 7 year old together. I guess I'm most worried about not checking off specific textbooks for each year. Somebody tell me to let that go....
For Kinder, 1st and 2nd. I would add a few things, but, yes…once you get beyond that, definitely not enough. Just my opinion. I used it in Kinder & 1st with Math & www.starfall.com, added more reading, kind of created a "book basket" from library books that were on the country, science, geography, etc type activities mentioned in the book. (this was with my oldest).
Thanks for the replies. I found one of the volumes is available through the library here. I placed a hold on it. I thought maybe I could borrow the manual and do a couple of books to see what I thought before I commit next year.
Yes, getting it from the library is a great way! Most people love FIAR. I got it from the library, and HATED it! It was so long ago, I don't remember why. So being able to try it for yourself for free really helps. If you find you really like it, you can buy a copy.
