I think we might start back some this week. Vicki needs something going on with more structure. All the summer activities are good but she needs structure really bad. We may start back doing a few things since we are doing so many summer activities. I hope everyone has a good year!!!

We're starting back July 11, alternating doing two days one week, three days the next, so we get a week of school done every two weeks. I gave ds the whole month of June off, plus next week because he'll be in VBS. We're planning a trip in the fall, so I want to get going so we are ahead and not behind after the trip! I LOVE the fliexibility of home school! And the fact that we can travel off season and save $$$! 8)

    Blessings,

I thought we would be doing more school this summer than we have, but every day we do is a day on the record books. We have averaged only 1 day a week of school work and we are going out of town this coming week, too. I expect to start up about 3 days a week by mid-July. I'm also toying with our schedule come September. I work around hubby's schedule so we might have alternating school days each week and concentrate more on days in a month rather than a week...we'll just have to see.

DH reports back on Aug. 29, with the students returning two days later. For us, it just works well to make his first day back our "official" starting date. Daddy is starting his new school year at the same time as us. Though we ARE doing some school all summer long; I won't be starting into our "official" routine until then.

    We finished up mid-May.
The girls have been asking when we can start our new school year.
Last Wednesday, I made the trip to the school district to drop off our evaluation letter (for this past year) and our letter of intent/ affidavit (for this coming year). Now that that's done, I feel more ready to start.
We took Ashley to church camp today and she'll be gone this whole week.
I think we will start school next Monday.
Anne~ I like the 2 days one week, 3 days the next idea for summer~ that sounds do-able and enough to keep the girls busy.

I think we'll be starting back on August 1. It's the first day of ps here. Last year we had a really, really short summer due to dd breaking her leg. So, this year I want her to be able to enjoy her time off. I think we'll head to the lake more often this summer. We just got back from FL but I am already ready for another vacation, lol. We are not ready to start back to school yet.

We will be starting up in the middle of August. We will do half days on Monday and Friday and three full days inbetween. My kids have guitar and karate lessons on those days so it is just easier to do half days!

I use Abeka. I like most of it.

    Curriculum

    Trish,
We will be using 10th grade this year. It seems not so long ago that we were using 3rd grade, what fond memories. My favorite part of the Abeka program is the reading. They do such an incredible job with it and the process and we just loved the reading books. My youngest learned to read at 41/2 years old and he looked so cute laying on his bed holding up a book reading to himself. What an incredible joy to know that you taught your kids to read, write, etc. What a blessing! Enjoy!

    Stacy,
Do you decorate cakes? Cute avatar!

Well during the summer we just school when we want. We took a couple of weeks off and now we are getting ready to take a vacation so...we'll probably start back up when we return. It's the beauty of schooling year round. You school when you want and don't when you don't. Now...of course you all know you still need to meet your schooling requirements, RIGHT???? I don't want anyone thinking we don't get our work done because we do. :p

We have to do 180 days in a year. We don't do hours. I am very grateful for that. Last year when Vicki was having such a hard time we done one day school in two weeks. Thank the Lord for homeschooling.

This week!!! ..We never finished last years because of our move, so we will be wrapping that up before we can switch years. I generally switch levels around January anyway, I guess I'm not too bad off schedule..

    Stacey~
WOW! It sounds like your son is the cake-decorating Champion!
And the blue ribbon goes to.............

I took a few classes in cake decorating myself and have made numerous cakes for both my girls and for several other people. But, my frustration with it is all the mess to clean up afterwards!

Anyway, I think it's great that he has found his talent and is pursuing it. What an awesome accomplishment to get that letter from the cake company!

Stacy...it looks like your son is doing a great job! How wonderful! :D

Regarding this thread....we usually start up again after Labor Day. I was hoping to start up earlier this year, but my oldest daughter is home from college for the summer, and she broke her foot! :? So I think we'll end up waiting.
