I never would have thought of Arbonne. My oldest daughter, Wendy, sells Arbonne. I should check with her.
    Thanks again everyone.

Hi, I haven't been on this site since this discussion. Glad to re-read and re-meet everyone. My husband also started to drink water - bottled - during the day. And his skin cleared up. I don't know how much it had to do with it. But his skin is clear. Bye for now. Nancy

ok, so I have had a lot of experience with eczema. My dd 2, broke out with a rash when she was a few weeks old. Her face would crack and bleed, her hands were raw, as were her ankles. We kept taking her to the doctor to find out what it was. It was eczema. We used cortizone (SP?) cream on it for a while, but it really didn't help. When she was four months old, I stopped nursing and put her onto formula (i don't remember why) it continued to be a problem. When she was eight months old, the dr told me that if it didn't clear up soon, we would have to put her on elladell (sp?) I called a dermatologist. They told my DO NOT put her on it because there have been reports of it hurting children.

The next day, a friend of mine called. She had ran into some people she used to know, and found out that ALL of their 8 kids had eczema. ALL of them cannot drink milk because it causes them to break out. We put my dd onto soy formula, and when she got older, soy milk, instead of regular milk. Within a few feedings, it began to clear up.

What gets the doctors is they belive that your child cannot be allergic to you. THAT'S NOT TRUE! It is rare, but a child with a milk proteen allergy can be allergic even to breast milk.

My point is...there may be something in your child's environment that is causing the eczema. So, start going throuh stuff to see what it could be.

Also, if you have eczema, don't use anything with cetil alchole. It will cause it to spread

Please forgive the spelling errors. I am very tired and can't really think straight right now!

I used to be a teacher, and had one boy in my class whose nose was constantly running, no matter what they did. His parents eventually found out that he was allergic to himself! I know, it sounds wierd, and I can't remember how that could be or what they did. But whatever they started giving him helped, and he no longer had the constant runny nose or other problems.

My oldest two had to have soy formula and soy milk when they were young also. Anything with milk in it caused them to spit up a lot and get congested!

Christian had an outbreak on his face when he was still an infant... I called the doctor and he told me to use Penaten cream. I was mortified to think that you would use diaper rash cream on a face BUT IT WORKED and it's a safer alternative than to use hydrocortisone creams and such (because of the medication content in them). If Penaten cream is safe enough to use on a tender toosh, then I'd use it again on a tender face and I would recommend it to others too.

I don't know what's up with my skin; flaky, white patches. I have a prescription but I don't use it regularly because I have to avoid the sun with it.

Anyhoo, the other day I was admiring an older lady's skin in the store, and told me she applies vaseline each night and wipes it clear with a cloth. Well I thought; "why not!"

I tried some of my kids baby scented vaseline, but I use white cottom pads to wipe away, and I am amazed that my skin looks so marvelous. It feels nice too!!

GM, the son of a good friend of mine has a horrible time with eczema to include a round of blood poisoning last summer. She was told to use vaseline on him as soon as he gets out of the shower. It made a big difference. Also, there is a fungus that will cause discoloration and even lack of pigmentation. My 17 yr old dd has some areas on her back like that and I didn't think anything of it but the dr told her to try selsun blue on it!!

Thanks Jennifer, it may be time to go back to the derm, since the meds didn't cure it and I got tired of using it everyday.

Jennifer, the fungus is what Emma developed around her nose and cheeks on her last major bout of eczema. I noticed her cheeks were turning yellow and the doctor told me she had an infection and picked up a fungus from scratching so much. She has a slight scaring on one cheek but it is hardly noticable. I always tell her not to scratch but she itches so bad and scratches. I keep wipes in the car so she can clean her hands and nails after we leave the market. The carts are so filthy and then she turns around and scratches. YUK!
I really do need to consider diet as a source or more like a trigger to her eczema. At first I thought she had only one type, now she has developed three.
It's funny, as a mom, I have come to recognize when she is about to have a breakout, unless it is the one where her skins gets raw looking. She actually wakes up like this with no warning. The other types of breakouts, I notice the skin gradually wrinkling in the area and I know it is about to lift and peel or she scratches like mad in this area.

GM, maybe you have psoriasis(sp?). I have it and get white to silver patches on the back of my neck, chest and inner arms. Occasionally I get them on my stomach.
A month or so ago Ems had a large silver patch on her neck line. It would burn during ballet because she was sweating. I took her to her doctor, who was out so we seen a different doctor. She told me it was a type of tinia(fungas). I thought great! Then I kept looking at it and decided to pass on the meds she prescribed and tried treating it with Emma's eczema meds. Sure enough, after four days, it was almost gone. I am glad I tried this because the doctor was going to have her take a strong fungal medicine that she would have to take for six weeks. I am positive that Ems also has psoriasis. It looked just like it.

Emma, I googled it and the pics are different from my condition. I do not have the red skin or the inflamation, it's more like a white rash. Hummm...

All psoriasis doesn't get red or oozy. Only in severe cases. Mine stays white or silver.

I was really surprised when I found out how many types of eczema and psoriasis there are.
It is the same with asthma. I do not have my nifty booklet near but I think there are seven types of asthma. I was also surprised when the doctor told me that it is common for people with asthma to battle with more then one type of eczema and psoriasis. She said they are all allergies, just more severe forms.

I know what you are saying with the asthma, Patty. My son developed asthma when he was around 7 or 8 and his triggers always seemed to be chemicals. If I needed to go down the laundry aisle in the grocery store, I would have to have him walk down the next aisle over. He was just young enough that I didn't like to do that but the smells were to much for him. Joyce, on the other hand, was born with asthma and hers always was when she had a cold. She has not had any type of attack since we moved where we are 7 years ago thank goodness. I did have a nurse tell me to not let your guard down, though, because it is not something you outgrow. It may get better but it is still there.

    Hi Ladies,
Forgive me, I haven't read all the post here, but my ds had eczema and we did all kinds of things. Steroid creams, lotions, oat meal baths, even taking him to a doctor who checked his blood, urine, and feces for metals and such. About the best thing we found was Skin Zinc. www.skinzinc.com It worked well for a while. I dont know if he started becoming immune to it or they changed the formula or what, but after a while it was not giving the same results so we went on to something else. Just thought it might work for someone else.
