Does anyone use this website for lesson plans or worksheets?? I have a question, for $19.95 I would have access to MOST of the material. For $39.98 I would have access to all material. First of all I don't have money to throw out the window, so I'm kinda leery. Me, the frugal person I am, it would be hard to pay the 20 dollars, but it would seem worth it. I don't want to pay if I won't have access to the stuff I need. If anyone has any input that would be awesome!!!! Thanks Kellie
I have used edhelper.com (edhelp goes to an eating disorder site ), quite a bit without paying anything. They will have a few worksheets "free" but you can't get answer keys or anything like that. I'm thinking the "free" stuff is under a "sister" type site. I'm looking for it now. It is rhschool or something like that. edit: Found it! http://www.rhlschool.com/ I'm not sure how they relate to edhelper.com, but on occasion, I have started at rhl and ended up at edhelper. (rhs, rhl, tomato, tomahto, hahaha)
(rhs, rhl, tomato, tomahto, hahaha) Ok, I realize it's late, that was funny. I needed that. These late nights are killing me, I'm too old. Thanks for that site, I will check it out as soon as I get over the stress of searching the Internet for stuff. How can something be such a blessing but makes you want to pull you hair out at the same time. Thanks again, Kellie
Hi Kellie, The charter school my dd was enrolled in for K gave us a subscription to Edhelper.com last year. The site does have a lot of cool stuff on it, but I'm not sure if you couldn't find the same stuff elsewhere for free. I ended up using DTKL (free) more. We were only doing K, but they did seem to have stuff broken down by grades. They had quite a few 'unit' studies for history, social studies, and just different worksheets for math and stuff, and they have monthly (like September) themes...So, it was a good site and I will prolly subscribe to Edhelper or Enchanted Learning or LearningPages at some point in the future. If money was tight I don't think I would spring for it (because stuff can be found for free), but it is great for supplementing or even breaking out of the mold of a curriculum, KWIM? I'm not sure what level (19.99 or 39.99) I had access to. Maybe someone who uses it more will comment...
Learning Pages is free. You have to sign up, yes, but it's free to sign up and use. They have monthly themes, unit studies, etc. as well.
I use enchanted learning on a regular basis. It is only $20 for the year so I feel it is a good investment. I do have to say that it works best for preschool and Kindergarten age. I haven't used it to much for my first grader. There is a lot of good stuff for the older grades however if your looking for worksheets to use. They have great crafts, good science material and a wide variety of math, spelling, and many other subjects. It's been a great site for us. Hope that helps
I use and I know Becky uses Enchanted learning and its $20. ( I know edhelper is good too though, I just get their free stuff when I can.)
I think Enchanted Learning is better value for your money. Ed Helper is mainly read/answer questions format. Enchanted Learning has more meaty information for each topic and a broader range as well. We've use abcteach, ed helper, enchanted learning, brain pop, united streaming, and where in the world. Comparing price and content, I'd pick Enchanted Learning. You can find lots of free stuff on the internet but for $20, it can save you a lot of searching around. Check out the topics available on each site and see which one suits you best? Michelle
hi Kellie, go to Donna young, and look through her site, she has so much stuff for free! We love her! She has no idea how many homeschool families she has helped! There are a LOT of free sites, Purple Math is good too check it out! and... We should have a thread called FREE SITES ! Ha!
ABCteach.com is AWESOME! It is (My Guess) geared toward all elementary level and SOME middle school levels. Mostly elementary. It is not free, but it is about $35 a year. One of the bonuses is in addition to the pre-made stuff, they also have FREE things on their site that allow you to MAKE YOUR OWN stuff! Like, I made a "Write your address" sheet for my kids with traceable letters! Too cool! You just can't get that in any book. And they have all kids of things that we use for the lapbooks. If you want, I can get you some screen shots from the site to show you a preview. The free section has stuff, but there is more on the members side.
I just realized that you can't do numbers, so it wouldn't work so well for an address, but it's great for anything else.
I have a handwriting page maker too: http://tools.atozteacherstuff.com I'm pretty sure it supports numbers. ETA: Yes, it does support numbers but the number of characters will limit your ability to do addresses. I need to make some upgrades so it's more versatile. It was my first attempt at programming so it's pretty simple!
Amanda, I'm having a lot of trouble printing these. Is it just me? When I try to print, despite having only 12 characters on landscape (which says it supports 17), my printing splits into two lines. I end up with 2 or 3 letters on the second line every time. Like I said, it might just be my printer or something, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention.
I knew you all could answer my questions. I did finally receive our workbooks so I won't need to use the Internet for worksheets as much. Yeah. I'm just not a huge fan of the internet net. I get brain-over-load at times when I'm surfing the net trying find things. I may see how much free stuff I can use for our younger child first though. Thanks again.
It sounds like you need to adjust your margins. You can go into page setup on your browser to do that. Try 0.5" or less. You'll also want to get rid of the headers and footers in page setup.
