Pre-Calculus - Thinkwell Chemistry - Apologia Cd-Rom World Geography - LifePac World History - LifePac Literature - Learning Language Arts Through Literature: The Gold Book **(this is the only one we arent sure of. we are concerned that it isnt suitable for a complete english course)*** Writing - Wordsmith Craftsman Home Economics - Switched on Schoolhouse any suggestions/ comments are welcome
sounds like you have it planned out really great.. I hope you enjoy hsing as much as my dd's do...welcome to hs spot..
They sound good zilla! The Literature works for HIghschool literature, and fi you are doign writring on the side too then that should help add up the hours to the credits you need? Depending on what state you are in it changes slightly.'
I wouldn't go to school until your stuff gets there! I'd concentrate on reading books and other things. You could sew up something that could count for Home Ec. Cook supper, etc. What you are ordering will be a year's worth of material, so why confuse yourself and take time to go to school?!!! Keep yourself busy at home, and when the books get there, start in on them, that's all you'll need! Best wishes to you!
well the main reason im going to school is because my mom wants me to go for two weeks and if im still one hundred percent sure i want to finish highschool through homeschool then she'll un-enroll me. but im also dealing with an eating disorder right now so she doesnt want me to homeschool and detach from the world while we are trying to beat this demon. but even with the circumstances im still very convinced that i want to homeschool. sept. 7 we are going to a homeschool organization thing and im very excited to meet some fellow homeschoolers thank you teacher mom for you input you really put that case to rest ! and since im from texas i dont have to have hours to add up to credits so thats good as well. thank you ladies for all your help
yay my mom is letting me quit school today was my last day and we are going to un-enroll me tomorrow and order the stuff tomorrow as well and today im going to volunteer at her church im so excited ! i can officially say im a homeschooler thanks for all your help ladies. i definitely will be posting on here if i have any questions yall are so geniune and nice and i really appreciate it
I'm not sure Learning Language Art Through Literature would be a good choice for high school Language. I've familiar with it at the elementary level, and it's really a bit of "fluff". Since you're planning on doing Wordsmith, you might consider doing something like Total Language Plus instead. They've got some great titles for upper grades.
Jackie, there is a review of an 11th grader doing the Gold level , on cbd, it sounds pretty challengeing at this level.. what do you mean by fluff , I am asking because I was looking at it for a bit, then I got that Explorying World history so I have literature there too and didnt want to overload her with Lit! lol, it came up when I was looking for 10th grade, only in the gold level though... So it may be good for Jesszilla still. I know it goes all he way back to grade school levels, but I ran into it at the local books store and was almost going to get it but dh decided he wanted to pick out books and give her assignments himself the sweetie! I am glad he wants to be involved in her learning literature!
well my mother and i decided to just go with it and if we dont like it then we will look for something else ! but thanks for the help. i already ordered the stuff otherwise i would change. on the rainbow resources website it says that a ninth grade tried the american literature gold and that it was a little difficult and she wished that she would of done it at an older age. and im doing the wordsmith just for the writing experience because we felt that the literature didnt really have enough writing and i need to start getting ready for college and what not.
i have one more question do you think we should count writing as an elective or just part of my english 3 ?
You might want to consider Literature as .5 credit, and Writing/Grammar as .5 credit. Like I said, my experience with LLATL was for about 3rd, 4th grade. I felt it was rather "hit and miss", rather than systematic. That's sort of what I meant by "fluff". It may be totally different for high school.
alright so when i get it if i feel like its a real course and not so much with the fluff then im really considering it as 1 credit and maybe writing as .5 credit just because we are basing my curriculum on what i would do in highschool if i still attended and i need half a credit of PE so that would even it out ! but i really would like writing to be a 1 whole credit all its self
