I've been looking at the illustrated classics at B&N for a month now but didn't want to splurge to get them. Well I was at the thrift store today and got 10 books- all but 2 are those illustarted classics, and I only paid 6 dollars! They're bigger print so dd won't feel like she's reading something too hard. And she's already locked herself in the bedroom to read Pollyanna. I can't keep up with the books lately. Things I'm expecting her to take a couple days to read she's reading in a couple hours.
That's my kind of girl. When I was young, I would do the same thing. Don't have much time now. Oh to go back to those days. I would rather read then go out and play as a child. Great find at a thrift shop. I love to thrift shop, too. Did you find anything else?
That is great! I really need to go to the Salvation Army store here sometime on my own, so I can look around. I went once looking for something for a craft day last summer and I found a really nice Step 2 art desk with a light for only $11. We already had a chair that fit it, so I called my friend and had her bring the van over. I was so excited about it I had to make a scrapbook page! Sounds like your dd is a great reader!
Great find! I love our Salvation Army. I find so many great books there, at a great price. I try to go on their half off days. Patty
Once when I was teaching I went to get some ties to make a turkey tail for my bulletin board. It happened to be a half-off day, which I didn't know they had. I was so excited! And once I got a chair for my classroom reading center for $10. That was nice because I didn't feel bad leaving it behind when ds was born!
Our library has a used book shop in the front of it. We love looking at all the books & trying to find some that we've been wanting. Sometimes, we even get unexpected surprises in the books. We found a copy of Pride & Prejudice & inside it were two photos of Jane Austen's house, just sittong inbetween the pages.
Last week, or the week before, I was looking at the books at Sally (AKA Salvation Army. Handsome calls it Sally) when I noticed a painting. It was originally $40.00 but being half off, I purchased it for $20.00. I was doing flips and then some because I was so excited. Patty
I will see if I can fit it on our scanner tonight. It is 12 x 12, so I am not sure if it will all fit. I will give it a try, though!
Here it is, Deena! Sorry about the glare. It was right in the middle of the album so I didn't want to mess with removing it. I'm lazy tonight!
Jen, that is so neat. the desk is great. I love going to Goodwill, you can find so much for so little... Books are my favorite thing to find. My dd loves to go to her room and be lost in a book for hours...
Jen, Thankyou so much for sharing that! What a neat desk you found! And the page is GREAT! Makes me want to go scrapbook now!
