Sorry if this has come up before (I tried to search it on the forum but nothing came up). Has anyone paid to subscribe to the enchantedlearning.com site? If so, do you feel it was worth it?

    I use it a lot!
I have three kids from kinder to 2nd grade and we use it for the minibooks in our lapbooks, for the thematic worksheets (They organize their site using THEMES) which is fabulous for science and social studies.

It is secular and includes language arts and mathematics interwoven into what the science or social studies (History geography) them may be.

So if you are studying the presidents, you may also find a presidential alphabetize sheet and so on...

The even have a page that shows what was added today, and they really do add things daily to that site.

I believe it is good for at least all the way up to perhaps early highschool level, but someone else may have a better perspective on that.

I'm thinking Becky has a subscription there, but am not sure! I've considered it; actually, I was considering it for this year because I like their stuff on states and a subscription means I can get it without the ads. (We're doing state geography this year!)

once your a member, click on " full page" -- or "larger image" -- I'm not sure of their wording, but it makes it better to view.

I've actually already been to that site today, LOL! I've used it a little bit ever since last year...and now that I'm *officially* starting to homeschool, I plan on using it even more.

Just less than 30 minutes ago, I too was considering getting a paid membership, because the ads do get on my nerves. But I've already surpassed my homeschool budget by far, so I don't know if I'll take the plunge.

In general, I do love that site and have found it very informative and helpful. It's the best educational site I've come across so far, actually. But like someone else already said, it is secular...and I want my homeschool to be as religious as possible. So think about how religious you want yours to be. If you don't believe in evolution, for instance, be careful of their animal pages. But not all of the animal pages mention that, it's not "all in your face."

All in all, it's a wonderful treasure trove of information...and if you can afford $20 without missing it, then I say go for it LOL. As for me, I have to mull over every dollar I spend, uuggghhh.

My membership just expired so now I am deciding whether to renew. I have a K & 1st grader and we used it A LOT over the last year - I definitely got more than my money's worth. I think I could continue using it regularly for a few more years so as soon as I have an extra $20 I will renew my subscription. I have to watch every dollar pretty close and this really seems worth the money to me.

Angelheart- do what you you have to, to subscribe! That site is outstanding. Amy was always telling me about it, but I also used to wonder if it was really worth it. It absolutely is. I should have listened to Amy sooner.

JenniferErix- you should find fantastic stuff to go with the ss from that site I posted on another thread, especially the K ss.

I pd the $20 for it. It has been well worth it to support the site. I have used many of it's craft ideas and used it's sheets for all three children. We make mini books and posters with their stuff. I even use some pages as colorin books for my younger two. I have decided not to waste my $$ on coloring books anymore. I get so much online now.

I just renewed last spring. I have used a LOT of stuff from there, especially when my son was in the early grades. Just last spring though I made a Japanese book and used stuff from there almost exclusively.

It is also a nice place to go when you know your kid needs a break from whatever curriculum we have been doing...like a fresh perspective on stuff. We did almost every single fraction worksheet last year as well.

So thumbs up review from me! :)

I have a subscription, too. I have used it for ds and for our moms group and I even found a dinosaur footprint I needed there for my scrapbooking. To me it is worth the $20 to save all the time searching.

We are doing Japan right now and using stuff from the site. We are getting ready to make the hanging fish. Except I read it wrong. I have poster size fish. Everything is big this year:)

I have subscribed for three years now. I use it all the time to supplement other things. I love all the great alphabet activities for my preschooler and all the great geography stuff for my first grader. I would highly recommend the signt. There is a wealth of information there. It has really saved me time in searching for things online. I just go there, and presto, it usually has what I need.

    Hope that helps!

Oh my, abcteach is considerably more expensive than EL! Do you think it's worth the money for someone who doesn't have very much to go around?

I'm thinking very hard about joining. I'm sooooo tempted...I know it would save me soooo much time.

How much do you think you'd have to use the site, in order for it to be worth the money?

I am sure tired of tons of ads, and some of their pages that you can't see full size or whatever...hmmmm....can you tell I'm slowly talking myself into it? LOL

Is there any other site as excellent as EL, that would be even more worth the money? I doubt it...once again, hmmmm...LOL

Darn, I really do have trouble letting go of every single penny, LMAO! I once bought something from one site because it was one cent cheaper there than at the other sites. :)

I have young children, we are pre-k Kinder (She is in between) and a pair of 2nd graders....

Knowing that, and that I have a membership to both ABCteach.com and to enchantedlearning.com.. here is my opinion...

If funds are tight and I had to pick one, I would pick ABCteach over the other due to the sheer volume of early elementary stuff on their site.

They have SOME middle school stuff, but this site is mostly for k-5 grades, with emphasis on the early primer years of k-3. And there is SOOOO much stuff on ABC Teach that we ACTUALLY use.....
If you do choose to become a member of ABCteach, when you get to the members only page, click on the left where it says: Directory". This shows (On the right) the contents of the whole site like a site map... everything organized by topic and so on... VERY cool!

So if I had to choose,I would choose ABCteach.com. (But I did not know the grades of your children....)

This is my opinion and your millage with other opinions may vary....

Thanks so much everyone!! I'm going to check out ABCteach, and then I'm definitely going to subscribe to one of them.
