What do you think of these materials?

Notebooking pages - unlike other notebooking pages, these ask for specific info (for those kids who aren't sure what to write), some blank lined pages are included in each set for any additional info you may want to add.

Project books - these are much like lapbooks. each one comes with directions, a suggested resource page (list of books & websites that will be helpful in finding the info), and a few blank pages for some of the mini books (in case there's more info you want to add), in addition to the pages for the mini books

Biography cards - these are index cards to fill out for biographies. there are different sets (presidents & first ladies, artists, inventors, etc) They can be used as biographies all on their own or a research for written biographies

Would you use materials like this with your kids?

I would.. only because my oldest is not the most creative person.. unless you hand him some paper towel tubes, some masking tape and some construction paper and let him have at them with markers and scissors ;)

They sound like they could lead to bigger and better things in time :)

With my daughter's ADHD, if you put a blank notebooking page in front of her she'll sit there for hours & only have 1 or 2 sentences. That's why I started creating these for her. If I give her one that asks for specific info, she does a lot better - gets more info in less time. It's not that she's not creative, it's just that wriring isn't her strong suit & she has a hard time figuring out what to write.

Thanks for your response. I'm doing a little bit of research. I'm starting a e-store, selling materials that I've made. I'm just looking for other opinions of some of the materials I'm working on.

Yes, I would, but I would be selective in using them. I'm planning on coming up with one in the very near future to help Phillip write a report on Christopher Columbus. Faythe is doing Henry Hudson; I might give her one, too, though I think hers will just have a bunch of questions that I think should be contained in her report. Rachael (Vasco De Gama) won't get anything like that. I expect more from her!

Project books we use to correspond with our topics. FOr example some time ago E homeschool offered a egymptian mummies project book kit for free, we are doing SOTW vol 1 and mummies right now so it goes perfectly and we have been working on that lapbook. I love having everything laid right out, the kids and i read the information together and put together the peices that go in. They still do the work they need to it just keeps me from having to do all the leg work first.

Notebooking pages and no biography cards but only because they are not my style for teaching the kids.

That homeschooling e-store also had some kind of notebooking pages. I saw it, and I might have dl'd it, I just need to find where it is.

I think people could use these, just make sure you don't spend a bunch of time getting something ready, that someone else has already done. You might want to look at the Homeschool e-store and see what things they have (if you haven't already), since they have quite a bit of stuff like that.

You have some good plans, I hope it works out well for you! Wish I was as creative as some of you are!

The biography cards sounds interesting but I would not use the others.

I have used them before for the same reason! Apologia has some samples that you can use with their resources and we used one when we studied oceans - we read their downloadable section on whales, then added the appropriate notebook pages to my son's notebook.

I also get idea of what to write from website, and cut and paste those into my own notebook templates from him. This year I was able to get a bunch of teachers books that have the reproductibles ready for me - we just copy and paste for some of the areas we study - or use them as a starting spot for my dd and she does the rest of the notebook from there.

We also use clip art that we print out for timelines or as ideas for what my ds can write about for his topic.
