Hello. I am a mom of a 9 yr old 3rd grader and a 4 yr old Pre-k. They are both girls and I love them to death. I am also married to a wonderful man. I am seriously thinking about homeschooling my children. I am very frustered with the whole PS system. I am however having troubles getting my hubby on board so please wish me luck there.
Hello and welcome! I have two girls age 11 (6th grade) and 4 1/2 (prek). This is our second year homeschooling and it totally rocks!! Hope your huuby gets on board!
welcome to hs spot. I hope your dh comes aboard. hsing is alot of fun.. maybe you should have him come here a few times and ask some question, maybe we can help change his mind alittle..
Welcome!!!! I think I saw Toto down the street:lol: We are from Kansas too. We started hs last year. I promise it's a rewarding experience for all and the children really learn and grow. Ok, gotta go, my family is making fun of the whole Toto thing, our 15dd said and I quote, "Mom that is so lame". Lame!!! What does he know. LOL> Goodluck on what direction you decide to go.
Alright, if Kris and Deena are shy - than the rest of us must be reclusive hermits. Seriously, welcome to our board. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
My2kids, Welcome to HS Spot! There are a bunch of know-how individuals on this board that can answer all of your questions. So don't be shy! Best of luck with your significant other coming on-board with the idea of home schooling. Sometimes, we just need some more information on items prior to making a sound decision. Key is communication. Best wishes to you. Dr. Russ
Welcome to the board! This is my second year homeschooling my now 3rd grader. My hubby was on board from the beginning.. he has been my rock when I think I can't do it anymore. I hope that soon your hubby becomes your rock! The very beginning he had as much doubt as I did, but he soon surpassed me with his acceptance. We hope to homeschool all the way through now.. although lately hubby has been saying maybe they should go to ps school for highschool.. he thinks they need prom! I told him it is a year by year and sometimes a day by day thing and we will cross that bridge when we get there!
Just so you know---there are groups that do homeschool proms. You don't have to send them off to highschool just for a prom!
Well hello again. We went to my oldest dd's teacher conference last tuesday night and some of the stuff I heard..my jaw probably hit the floor and did not go well. Hubby was very upset and I started talking to him greatly about hsing and he said after tonights conversation and what DD has been saying...I think we outta give it to Christmas break and if their isnt an improvement than well yank her and teach them both at home. I honestly dont see an improvement happening so I am preparing mys elf for this wonderful adventure. The library had their annual sale and I boght a TON of books.. and a huge encyclopeida.. I got 5 grocery sacks of books for 5.00 and my encyclopedia was 5.00....woohoo..... Its pretty sad...I was talking to dd today about the option and hse says "its not like im learning anything anyways".:roll:
That is a sad comment to hear from you child! hugs! I posted on your other thread about wtd. I think bringing your dd home and keeping your youngest home would be the best bet for your dds. You can always get hubby to see it through the eyes of well if we aren't succeeding then she can go back.. with the secret thought of "over my dead body!"...lol. Oh Deena.. yes there is a state wide prom here every year.. but PA is a huge state and sometimes they are pretty far away. I never went to a prom, and don't feel I missed out on anything.
