Dh is fine. His car is not. But it is much better than it could be. He tried to beat a yellow light (and didn't) and hit an oncoming car. Her car was not damaged, just his. We have only had this insurance for 1 1/2 weeks (since the move), so I hope it doesn't skyrocket! Thanks for your prayers. The adjuster is here now looking at his car.
WOW!! What looks like a little damage really adds up!! The estimate was just over $2600, but could be higher once they get the car apart. The body damage isn't as bad as the damage under the hood. We have a $500 deductible, so that's really going to hurt after all the moving expenses!
That's what I told him! I have a confession... I am constantly talking to my dh about his driving. He really doesn't pay attention well when he's driving. He is very easily distracted by things around him, songs on the radio, cell phone conversations. He was so worried that I would be mad about this, because he was talking on the phone when it happened. My theory is this... $500 is much less to pay than his life. I hope this serves as a wake up call to pay attention. I hope I'm not making myself sound like a horrible nag, but my mom died in a car accident when I was 4. She was reaching for something on the floor (not paying attention) and ran under a cotton trailer. It hits close to home for me. I want my kids to have their dad for along time yet! On a lighter note... The adjuster saw my littlest one, and asked how many children I had. Then he said, "Do you homeschool?" When I said "yes", he said they do, too! I might need to give him a call for references to a new homeschool group!!
Pam, you are right. $500 could be a very cheap lesson! I'm glad he is okay, and I'm glad you met another homeschooler.
So there's the bright side of what happened! Glad he's okay, glad you met another homeschooler....but sorry you have to put that amount out now. But maybe it's something that will save him from a worse fate if he changes his ways now!
Wow, I just now found this!! So glad he's okay! You're right - better the $500 (which I'm sure hurts right now, ouch!) than his life! And maybe it'll be his wake up like you said. So cool to have met another homeschooler though! Would be great if they could hook you up with groups etc! (And I have meant to send you a PM - I'll do so right now! We had the best time the other night! Thanks again for all!)
Oh my goodness! How scarey! I'm so glad he is ok! Now, go smack him on the back of the head for trying to beat the yellow! Hahahah Kidding , of course. Goodness knows I commit plenty of traffic sins in my time driving.
