Umm... who do you think that God would be looking at more... the poor misguided soul that doesn't know any better, or those who would purposefully want to make her look/feel bad? Just food for thought guys...

Ok, let me just clear something up though, you can hit me (cyber hit) if you want. I only weigh 128 pounds...HOWEVER, I do have that afterbirth belly flab that isn't so great looking. Overall, I still would not look good in that pointy Madonna bra. I don't think anyone would, not even Madonna!

You get a kick out of that don't you? But, alas it has turned into one big joke.

I think that has been your soul purpose for visiting this board all along. Why else would a young, single man in his 20s be hanging around a bunch of homeschool moms old enough to be his mother?

Awe, don't be that way. I meant I like fighting better than the joke. Which isn't very much. ;)

Hmmm, my favorite style of preaching. Haven't got a favorite "style". As long as the content is solid, biblical truth and the delivery is not totally monotone and somnolent! Humor used in a way to bring out a point doesn't offend me. I do enjoy a good old fashioned, enthusiastic delivery of a sermon. But the main thing is CONTENT. I sure get frustrated when I hear someone go on and on for an hour and not say anything! I've heard great orators say more in five minutes than some folks (who apparently haven't studied or prepared) say in an hour. Nothing against long sermons, one great preacher, now in Heaven, would speak for an hour and a half and keep it interesting and teach volumes. Most of the time, I didn't even realize that much time had passed!

I'm more like Anne. I've heard various preachers with various sytles that are fine with me because of their content. One thing I DON'T like.... I attended a church for a while where the preacher's style was more of a used-car salesman!!! He is a Godly man, very earnest in his beliefs, but the whole service drove me crazy!

Style doesn't matter to me as long as the preacher preaches God's Word and doesn't interpret verses out of context. In my opinion, preachers don't ever need to shout or try to entertain the audience. God's Word is powerful in itself!!! I especially like to see preachers offering an altar call and emphasizing the Great Commission.

Regarding clothes, modesty is the key. We need to show reverence to God. Sadly but true, provocative dressing gets to be widespread among churches. It's such a distraction to men who go to church to worship God. We're so thankful that our 12 yo dd dresses very modestly and conservatively.

I actually considered this post on Sunday Morning!!! Like I said, we're an "inner city" mission church. Well, there was a guy there...he's been there before, but I don't think he attends regular...who came in with an ordinary t-shirt of some kind and what appeared to be "work jeans". They were probably clean, but were stained with LOTS of paint. No one said a word to him about his "dirty" pants!!! He'll probably wear them again, and no one will say anything again. It may be his cleanest pair! Now, during worship, he really was worshipping. Like has been said before, the important thing is the heart attitude!

God's word IS powerful in itself, but we are all human and have human nature. When I go to church, I would like someone who is creative in their message so I can understand it thoroughly. Consider the people with handicaps and disabilities. Sometimes it needs to be simplified and creative.

I agree, JenPooh. That is why I like anecdotal teaching. Jesus taught in parables for the same reason. It makes it easier for people, especially children or people with limited Biblical knowledge, to understand and apply a new concept.
