Hi all, I havn't left many post here, but am asking all to think about my son in your prayers today. He came down with leukima at age 2 1/2. They put a"portacath" in his chest (its a metal and silicone thing that kept his blood line more accesible for treatments and to keep them from putting the needle in too far) But now his treatments are over and he only needs to to blood work every 2 months. Its time to take out the "port" today. (9am our time in AZ). For the procedure they have to put him to sleep. It won't take long just a half hour or so. BUt still, its a surgury to remove something, and I just am hoping all will go well. I think he willl be glad not to have this thing in his chest any more! (It sticks out pretty far because he is so skinny).
ABall you and your son our in our prayers today. I understand what the little one is going through we did that when my husband had to have chemo. it does save alot of poking, but it is always harder when it is a smaller child. Best Wishes today.
came out fine Oh, what a relief to have that over with, every thing went fine. We waited a long time because they had a schedueling problem. But the procedure went fine.
I know a little boy here in Sc who had all that done. Just to encourage you alot I hope: He is doing wonderful. He is know in 2nd grade in public school. Yes, the doctors encourage mom to put him in school. He is doing super and I am sure your son will too. Hang in there, gal. Come to us when you need support and we will all pray for him. Lorna
