It seems like there was a similar thread on this before, but I can't find it.

We are going camping in a couple of weeks and I am looking for some ideas to keep ds entertained (in a more contained way than he might entertain himself ) while it is dark and we are in the camper. Does anyone know of any games like a nature bingo or something printable like that? I think we will do a nature walk during the day.

I just know that if I don't come up with something structured for some of the time, the 3 & 5 year old combo may make me insane!

i went to a storytime once where they had white paper bags, some stamps (leaves, etc.) and some of those foamies with adhesive on the back. we made bags with the stamps and foamies. when we got home, we used the bag to go on "leaf hunts". we walked around collecting leaves to put in the bag and talked about how each one was different. it was so much fun, i am planning to buy the stuff and do our own this year. you could make the bags at night, hunt for leaves during the daytime, and then burn another evening by gluing those leaves onto paper, doing leaf rubbings, etc.

Yeah, if you guys collect different leaves and pieces of bark and things with different textures during the day, then at night he could use crayons on paper, with the item under the paper, and color the different textures. You could color the textures on a bag like she was talking about as well.

I can't think of any more right right off hand, I think I left my brain at the zoo today!

Is there anything in your area that you could collect now that could be saved to make a wreath at home later? Acorns, pine cones, anything that would not go bad. You could make a wreath form from cardboard and glue your finds on then put it away for holiday decorations.

How about collecting leaves to be used to make turkeys?

I will have to think about it for awhile .. it has been a few years since we did girl scouts :)

I remember when I was little we often glued beans and macaroni to pictures glued onto cardboard. I can't remember many details, but if you got a picture of a Turkey or something Fallish, and had him glue mac, beans of different colors, etc. onto them (or just one if that's all he'd want), then SOMEONE --a grandparent?--would probably love to get that as a present from him!
