For anyone who's interested in their free CD , visit their website, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine ______________________________________________ Each year, thousands of students sit in biology class with a chemical-soaked frog pinned before them, wondering if there is a better way to learn about anatomy. With today’s advanced technology, there are now many humane alternatives that have been proven to teach just as well or better than dissection. PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) is pleased to offer a free copy of one of these alternatives, Digital Frog 2, to students, parents, and teachers. Digital Frog 2 is an interactive CD-ROM that uses animation, video, narration, and still images to create a realistic dissection experience for the student. Students can perform an entire frog dissection with a “digital scalpel.” This humane method has many educational benefits over traditional dissection. Unlike in a real dissection, aspects of virtual dissection can be repeated and reviewed on subsequent days. An anatomy module provides information and photos as students work through each part of the dissection. Other features include animations showing how a frog’s body works and comparisons to human anatomy. Several studies have shown that students who participated in an alternative to animal dissection demonstrated equal or greater knowledge of the subject matter compared with their peers who participated in dissection. A study of Digital Frog 2 at George Mason University found the program more effective than dissection, with students learning more in 44 percent less time. There are many reasons students are concerned about classroom dissection. Unfortunately, only 13 states have laws or resolutions protecting student choice. With a free copy of Digital Frog 2 in hand, students have a powerful tool in discussing humane alternatives with their teachers.
Hey teens mom someone else posted this one too, I checked it out and it is awesome! Dh ordered it for me! Can't wait!
Anyone else get this? Dear PCRM supporter, Thank you for your recent order of Digital Frog 2. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming number of requests we have received in the past few weeks, we will be unable to fulfill your order. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is a charitable organization and due to our limited budget, we cannot accommodate the unforeseen number of requests, which was more than 100 times greater than our average volume. You can also download a variety of free science DemoWare from Digital Frog International. The newest version of Digital Frog is commercially available from Digital Frog International. yeah i got that email from them yesterday (or today, didn't check date might have only dropped in my box this morning) as well....
hmm checked mine, didnt get it yet but it may have gone to spam so will go check there .. I hope I get one! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Aww that's too bad. Maybe someone who does recieve it could set it up online somewhere for others to view? I don't know if that would infringe on copyright or whatnot. Just a thought.
we prolly all will...they can see where you click through from and they'll likely just eliminate everyone from boards -- i used to be a freebie hunter and i never even though (duh because i know better! LOL ) to copy/paste the url rather than click through....
Yeah, I got the same e-mail too. I was disappointed because I really wanted the kids to use this. Oh well, I'll figure something else out.
okay, well I will let you all know if I get it then because My dh ordered it via his ownlink at work.... then you can test the theory?
I think they wanted people on their e-mail list. I got a few e-mails from them. I got one yesterday again, so I asked them to stop sending them to me.
Idont think its a scam, I have the lesson books, teacher and student to go along with downloaded and all they look legit. maybe they really did get way more than they could handle and chose groups to drop? who knows... maybe they chose to drop people at random, I still have not received either an email or a disc, but then hubby ordered at work so I will have to ask him about that.
