Yes, it is hard for me to pass the Goodwills, we have 4 of them in just a 15 minute drive from our house. We also have a Salvation Army Thrift store.

Next Sat., Lynne and I are going to the thrift stores while the guys watch the children, can't wait to go.

I find lots of books and clothes, too.

We go to the library once a week for story time for Gianna while Elijah and I hang out.

yep! I will venture ANY where I think I might get a bargain. I got a third grade math set last summer for 3 bucks for the whole set. Workbook, teachers book, textbook and something else.... oh the answer book for the workbook.

I keep my eyes open everywhere. Yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and ebay are my favorites!

I have to keep a tight reign on my budget in order to stay home.. that means eating cheap meals (anyone want some spagetti?), buying the cheapest of this and that that I can and keeping the school stuff as cheap as I can.

There's a whole thread on this kind of stuff in the "House and Home" Forum!

We go to Value Village and Goodwill to find good deals on clothes and things! I don't think ANY of us have very big budgets, so that really helps save $$! :D

Tee hee...you reminded me of a story from last summer. My mom has some awesome thrift stores near her beach condo in Cape Canaveral. I found about a dozen awesome books at one of them last summer...including two newish science textbooks, one for 4th and 5th grade. I can link to Harcourt's website and get more info on the lessons. I think they were $1 each...one of my best HS deals yet!

Anyway...I had this huge stack of books, a neat spelling game for my kindy, and a huge pile of clothes...and there was one register. And the store was closing. And there were three people behind me who had one item each. AND it was half-price day so the cashier had to key in the discount for each individual item.:oops:

About halfway through the stack, the cashier asked what I planned to do with all those books. I replied that we were a homeschooling family. She paused a moment then said, "Woah. More power to ya..." Maybe you had to be there but it was just so funny to me!

    online

I get mine usually online from like Ebay or the used online book places on the yahoo groups. I especially like any of my local ones so we can just meet up and buy them instead of having to pay for shipping.

I LOVE the thrift stores. Unfortunatle we only have 2 here and they are only open 2x a week. And if you aren't there when they open you don't get most of the good stuff. One of them I like better than the other since it's so cluttered and you have to DIG for stuff. That's where I find the majority of the books. I find lots of hidden treasures. I like yardsales too. We have them almost year round here. I haven't found any good books at them but we really cash in on clothes.
