I dont know if this is where I post this...but I was wondering how many of you shop Good Will or places like that to find text books or books in general? We go to good will often....I also am well known at my library
Yes, it is hard for me to pass the Goodwills, we have 4 of them in just a 15 minute drive from our house. We also have a Salvation Army Thrift store. Next Sat., Lynne and I are going to the thrift stores while the guys watch the children, can't wait to go. I find lots of books and clothes, too. We go to the library once a week for story time for Gianna while Elijah and I hang out.
I love the 50% off on weekends. I got a general science book..I am sure its too old for now but its good for pictures....and I paid .50 for it so its great  Where In Ohio Are you? I was born and raised in East Central Oh!!! GO BUCKS!
yep! I will venture ANY where I think I might get a bargain. I got a third grade math set last summer for 3 bucks for the whole set. Workbook, teachers book, textbook and something else.... oh the answer book for the workbook.
Go Bucks! I hate football...HATE it...but my son LOVES it...so I will have developed a liking for his favorite team. lol. I shop at thrift stores and garage sales for deals. I have had a few good ones. I also get some good ones on ebay.
I keep my eyes open everywhere. Yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and ebay are my favorites! I have to keep a tight reign on my budget in order to stay home.. that means eating cheap meals (anyone want some spagetti?), buying the cheapest of this and that that I can and keeping the school stuff as cheap as I can.
Our budget is VERY tight....VERY limited....so GoodWill has become a very smart place..I dont get to many yard sales as I would like....I have also made my own baby wipes...laundry detergent and fabric softner......
I am always looking for deals, especially books. In our area Spring time is used book sale central!! Used sales are everywhere! I love when our library has their fill a bag for $2!!!
There's a whole thread on this kind of stuff in the "House and Home" Forum! We go to Value Village and Goodwill to find good deals on clothes and things! I don't think ANY of us have very big budgets, so that really helps save $$!
Tee hee...you reminded me of a story from last summer. My mom has some awesome thrift stores near her beach condo in Cape Canaveral. I found about a dozen awesome books at one of them last summer...including two newish science textbooks, one for 4th and 5th grade. I can link to Harcourt's website and get more info on the lessons. I think they were $1 each...one of my best HS deals yet! Anyway...I had this huge stack of books, a neat spelling game for my kindy, and a huge pile of clothes...and there was one register. And the store was closing. And there were three people behind me who had one item each. AND it was half-price day so the cashier had to key in the discount for each individual item. About halfway through the stack, the cashier asked what I planned to do with all those books. I replied that we were a homeschooling family. She paused a moment then said, "Woah. More power to ya..." Maybe you had to be there but it was just so funny to me! Kari Mom to Zachary (9) and Eli (5)
online I get mine usually online from like Ebay or the used online book places on the yahoo groups. I especially like any of my local ones so we can just meet up and buy them instead of having to pay for shipping. Sam
Wow Crystal.. you will have to let me know when that is and I'll come down! I guess our small area doesn't have an abundance of books..lol
I LOVE the thrift stores. Unfortunatle we only have 2 here and they are only open 2x a week. And if you aren't there when they open you don't get most of the good stuff. One of them I like better than the other since it's so cluttered and you have to DIG for stuff. That's where I find the majority of the books. I find lots of hidden treasures. I like yardsales too. We have them almost year round here. I haven't found any good books at them but we really cash in on clothes.
Our library has an annual booksale. I've only been last year. I'm looking forward to this years though. I know more of what to expect.
I'm the same. not only do I find cheap stuff at all the above-mentioned places but I also find stuff that's out of the ordinary.
I too enjoy finding a great deal at Goodwill or other such places. I find lots of great books for the kids to read.
so disapointed! wen't to Target Sunday. There was nothing in their $1 spot!! except candy from halloween for 75% off (it was changed from 50% when we got there)..... a good deal for freezing. They had a few odds and ends for 75% off too, I got 2 packs of recipe cards for .25
