    Free School Supplies

Ok... those of you who submitted to papermate and didn't get your package... If you send me an email or pm with a list of things you wanted (with your address), I'll send some things to you. Those of you who did receive something, if there's something you were wishing for but didn't get, let me know - I may have something I can send along.

When you send me the information, let me know the ages of your children and whether you are a secular educator or christian based (that won't make a difference in who I send to - but I might be able to add more things to the packages depending on what kinds of curriculum you use).

For the time being, I'm not going to go down the school supply thing for our business idea - I'm going to wait until we're into a physical store. Having said that I have loads of school supplies here that we won't need (I have WAY more than we'll ever use).

I'd sooner give it to you guys who are doing the absolute best for your children than donate it to the schools around here (where's the smilie that wants to be sick)

I got a very small package in the mail the other day. It contained only a few highlighters, a few markers, some white out, and a ruler. I am certain that those contents are not $40 worth;(.

Well... in the packages I will send out, there is construction paper in all of them, some will have pens, some pencils, all of them crayons, some have pencil crayons, some loose leaf, some notebooks (70 pages), erasers. I know there is more stuff - I just have to dig through bins to find it all.

I have a couple packages of flash cards to send out (but I hadn't ordered many of them at this point so I won't have more for a couple of weeks).

I have some activity books (with Pokemon as the theme - yuck I know) that help to teach math and reading skills (Phonics grade 2, Math challenge for grades 2-4 and 1 Spelling challenge for grade 2) - I was going to carry them in the store but I struggle with it because of Pokemon (mind you as I look at the books more, there isn't anything too bad about them - they do have the pull out flash cards on the back of the card it has an equation (for math) and the reading books have stickers) - I wasn't really thinking of it when I bought them. it's just a me thing right now and I struggle to keep them here. If you're interested in them, let me know.

I also received a package containing highlighters, white out and broken ruler. Of course anything is better than nothing. But sure was not like last year.

Not a problem - does anyone know where abouts Vicky lives (or is anyone here close to her)? I would like to get things to her as well - I have a feeling she lost most of everything she had - I could be wrong, but my instincts (and the news) make me think otherwise. She'll have a time enough rebuilding their lives... things that pertain to school should not be a worry for her.

I got the same package, JenPooh. It said on the envelope that it might not be the only package on its way. I agree, though, that something is better than nothing, but you shoulda seen the package last year!

Yes, this years' package was a big disappointing compared to last year! I couldn't believe the difference when I opened it up. I basically got a few permanent markers, some white out, and a dry-erase marker. Good thing it was free, or I'd have really been disappointed!

Brenda~ you're so generous to be willing to share all of your stuff with us! I always knew you were a sweetie!
I hope you can somehow find out about Vicky- I'm worried about her too. Would Amanda have contact info on her (I don't remember if we needed any of that to originally sign up here or not)?

Well, I think in the interm while we wait and pray for news from her/about her, I'm going to set aside some things for her (and some I have set aside for Jimmie Lu's next trip to Mexico).

I don't know whether Amanda would have her address and stuff or not - it's worth a try - thanks for the suggestion - although, sending it directly to her right now might not even be a viable option - getting a mail truck in there might cause a problem....

Anyone know what curriculum she uses? I thought some of us might have some stuff laying around that she could use.

Ok , here's what I have found snooping through the forums. her son is 11 years old in grade 3 (he was just tested not too long ago). He's ADHD, disgrapia, and mildly dislexic. I think the post said he had troubles with signs in math +,_, x, /

Her daughter is 13 in grade eight.

She uses Alpha Omega and I saw something about MrGraw Hill stuff as well.

    I'll keep looking...

Thanks for doing that legwork, Brenda. I knew about her son's situation but I couldn't remember what she was using. I'm so glad you are a ball of fire!
