Ever heard of Angel Food Ministries? My sister used it and said it was a wonderful value (if you have a host site near you). For $25/month you get a huge box of food (fresh and frozen)--or for larger families you can buy any # of boxes/month.

Check it out at: http://angelfoodministries.com/index.php and read about the program. You can check "Host Sites" to see if there is one near you, or check the "Menu" tab for the month's list of groceries.

If there's not one near you, this would be an EXCELLENT ministry work for churches or homeschool groups, etc. to service the community. My dh is proposing it to our church leadership to try to become a host site ASAP.

I checked out that site, it seams really nice, there isn't one near us, or near my cousin in WA that could really use a place like that. Hopefully some day. Thanks for sharing.

Was this formerly the SHARE program? I remember participating in SHARE as a kid.

I'm not sure. Their website says they started in 1994. My sister just told me about it because someone had turned her onto it. Said it was well worth the $25.

Thanks for the site. There is one near me. I'm going to check it out. My sister's husband just passed away and she needs all the help she can get. (He was 35 and they have two kids).

Side note....remember in school when you were doing history and you had to look at all those weird (at the time) political cartoons from those eras? Well, in 50 years text books will include e-mails from the Oil Wars!
