Gracious and Heavenly Father, Lord I thank you for who You are and for Your everlasting love. Lord, I thank you for being able to make a way when in our human eyes, it all looks hopeless.

Lord, I pray for the multitudes of families affected by Katrina - Lord, the sick, the dying, the decision makers, the law enforcement agencies, the home less, the job less and the entire country. Lord, I thank You for those in neighbouring states who have so graciously opened their doors to the thousands of refugees and Lord I ask that you would impress upon many more to do the same - to open their doors to these people and to give them a home and the basic needs (food, water, shelter, clothing and health care).

Lord, I ask that you would strengthen each person affected by this and Lord that you would be with them - given them wisdom, knowledge, understanding, patience, compassion to get through this disaster. And Lord, may they each look to you as their sole source of strength - that they might see this as a golden opportunity to depend soley upon You for all of their needs.

Lord, it is possible through You. All of this could go away in a heart beat. Lord I pray for a mighty work - one that will put all the Glory where it belongs - at your feet.

I ask this all in Jesus' precious and Holy name. AMEN

Agreeing with you in prayer here, too. I want a practical way to help, to get my hands on someone and just bring them home with me. I wonder if there might even be a mass relocation project go on for all the people who lost homes and jobs. I need to be praying for an opportunity to present itself.

On my way home form work this morning I was listening to the news. They're VERY closely watching the latest development Tropical Storm Maria... 1700km south of Bermuda heading NW with winds of 85 km/hour. They have said they expect it to be upgraded to a hurricane by tomorrow

I don't know whether it will head towards the Gulf Coast or not - I pray that it won't... these people are already at their limit and they have absolutely NO CLUE that this is even developing... no communication, etc.

They can't handle another storm - of any kind. We need to coat them with prayers of protection and continued safety and strength to get through this.

On a more positive note, I saw some of the good things coming out on the news last night - a couple in Texas who had just bought a 2800 sq. ft. home and opened it up it to four or five families to live in (they hadn't moved in to it yet), filled the cupboards and fridge, etc. The babies (newborn) being reunited with their parents, etc Good things are happening - GOD IS SO GOOD!

You can take a family into your home thru HSLDA but you have to provide transportation for the family too.

I don't know Brenda's thoughts, but to me it's like we can hold hands and pray over these people together.

It was something I felt led to do, something I'm sure that others agreed upon (maybe not those same words, but the same feeling). To me, it's no different than going to our church and praying aloud during the Wednesday evening prayer meeting.

Words were not spoken to meet anyone's 'approval' ... it was my conversation with God... I promised to pray for people and I did

I know that the Lord takes notice when "two or three are gathered" and agreeing in prayer. When online, posting is the only means to do that.

Pray without ceasing. I Thes. 5:17

I applaud you for praying. So many times we are under pressure to pray the "RIGHT" way. God just wants us to talk to Him. Look how many people that this posted prayer, encouraged to talk to Him. They may have done it on their own also but maybe not. Anyway thank you for being bold enough to share your intimate conversation with the rest of us.

    We need to continue praying

We need to continue praying... and now we need to add the state of Texas and surrounding areas to our prayers as well - the hurricane has been downgraded but it's still going to be a brutal one (and I don't buy the idea that this is God's way of passing judgement on Texan's for helping Katrina victims  )!

As was our prayer for hurricane Katrina victims our prayers now with hurricane Rita.

"O God, our help in time of need, Who are just and merciful, and Who inclines to the supplications of His people, look down upon the people of Texas and Louisiana, and have mercy on them and deliver them from the trouble that now besets them.

Deal with them not according to their iniquities, but according to Your manifold mercies, for we are the works of Your hands, and You know our weaknesses. I pray to you to grant them Your divine helping grace, and endow them with patience and strength to endure their hardships. Only You know their misery and sufferings, and to You, our only hope and refuge, I pray they will flee for relief and comfort, trusting in Your infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when You know best, You will deliver them from this trouble, and turn their distress into comfort.

We then shall rejoice in Your mercy, and exalt and praise Your Holy Name, Of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, both now and forever and to the ages of ages.

    Amen
