Well Fall must be around the corner alright. We have made our first full summer in southern Texas and boy was it a chore. HOT AND HUMID AND HOT AND HUMID.

Don't know if I would do it again or not. Just to hot for me. Days are to long and hot in the 100's for days.
My youngest ask her daddy the other day does the sky ever get clouds down here. We were on our 28 day of 100 above no rain or clouds. With the humidty it was well over 100 for days.

Well September hit and it's raining on the 2nd day in the row and the weather has cool down get up in the mornings are 77 out right now and not 88 and high only got 89 yesterday almost got my pants and coat out. LOL

LOVE FALL and the wonderful colors and fresh smells and holidays.

    Kris

    Hi Kris and all,
We're only in the high 70's to low 80's here during the days and 50 at night. Frigid here in VA. LOL

It won't be officially fall in this house until Monday...that's when we're scheduled to go apple picking! I'll be freezing about 24 quarts of applesauce. I think I'm going to try to add some strawberries to some of it this year and see how it goes!

Yes, football season has started (Ohio State is big in central Ohio!!!), and my oldest has her first soccer game of the season tonight. DH is back to school now, we're trying to do our schoolwork full-time now, and still judging for county fair is tomorrow. All well and good, but it still isn't fall here until we're out picking apples! Last year, we found a "new" place to go that's cheaper and just as good. It is RIGHT UP THE ROAD from the Velvet IceCream factory. So we'll be meeting friends, go pick our apples, eat a packed lunch, then desert at the Ice Cream factory! Sounds like a GREAT morning!!! Then all next week, I'll put on two crockpots worth of applesauce each night until they're all done and frozen.

So move North... it's only in the 60's here... just the way I like it - not too hot and not too cold and I love the colours in the fall (spring and fall are my favorite seasons...reminds me of birth and death). Actually as hot as it was this summer, some of the trees around here started turning colours in August... that's weird for us...

    Brenda,
My husband went to the library today to pick up a book called "One Man's Wilderness". This man lived in Alaska away from everybody. Randall said it got has cold as 29 degrees in his house. That is where he wants to move to. He did say he would come to Canada in a heartbeat also. I would love the weather you guys are having right now. It would be wonderful.

Trish, I spent a summer in Alaska! No, it didn't reach that low, but I had always talked about going up there someday. I actually wrote a letter once, and received the addresses of all the teaching districts in Alaska. I was single at the time, disgusted with the way my life was going, and figured I'd apply to teach there! But never did write any of the letters. My summer there was enough to settle me down! Loved it, though; would go back again in a heartbeat!

I love fall and spring, too! I'm such a "jeans person" that I've been wearing them for the past month or so (here in NC) because I got tired of looking at my pasty legs in shorts. I love the colors, the crispness, the state fair and all of the tasty treats it brings - everything but the spiders that seem to spin their webs along every path I consider taking!

So do I, Jen. One thing I really like about Ohio is the changing seasons. By mid-November, I'll be done with fall, and ready for the snow. I'd go crazy living in the south where there's no winter. Hiking in the winter is so beautiful when there's snow! But my kids all pay attention toward the end of February to see who can spot the first crocuses poking up from the ground. We get so excited about seeing them come up! And then we visit this wonderful park known for its gardens and draw different flowers. Then Daddy's home for the summer, and there's swimming and camping, etc. but come the beginning of September, I'm looking forward to cool evenings and APPLE PICKING!!!

    Jackie,
Is Alaska as beautiful as they say it is? I don't think I would want to be where their is no people but the thought of Alaska would be nice.

    Trish,

YES!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!! Here I am in Central Ohio, away from any "real" water, and Cordova, where I was, is on the Prince William Sound. They have a harbor, with real fishing boats. I loved walking down there! They've got REAL MOUNTAINS, and glaciers. We took a group of kids canoeing down some creek until it came to a lake, which we crossed to spend the night in a cabin. The boys actually went swimming in that glacier-fed lake....BRRRR!!!! I'd go back in an instant!!! Fishing is their whole life up there. Every Sunday we would pray for a good fish harvest and safety for the fishing fleet. I was there the year before the Exxon Valdez spill.

Trish, Katrina has pictures of Alaska. Ask her to let you see them sometime. She visited when her uncle was in service up there.
