If you are going to be pulling him out of school after him having problems in school, I HIGHLY suggest taking a month off from school. You can do this and "make up" the time this summer or on weekends. That's a wonderful thing about homeschooling. Before you pick a curriculum, you need to let him get the bad experiences out of the front of his mind. And you need to have fun together. You also need to decide what his learning style is. Then you'll be able to choose a curriculum that will be the best fit for his personality.

I would first get a hold of

HSLDA: Home School Legal Defense or Texas Home School Coalition if your in the Houston area to find out about your rights in Homeschooling.

If your from Texas and someone from the school is telling you to show your curriculum to them you dont have too.

I would take my time also finding a curriculum like Actressdancer suggested because you don't want to spend a lot of money on it and dislike it. These organizations will also put you in contact with local Homeschool groups in your area so you can meet other moms homeschooling and find out what they are using as a curriculum.

Welcome to the board. I don't have any specific help for you.. just some advice... open up your mind. Homeschooling does not have to be a school at home. At 14 your "student" is more than able to lead his/her own education, let them tell you what they want to learn about.

Also.. you are lucky to be in TX.. it is one of the easiest states! There are lots of ladies here on the board who are in TX. I'm in PA and our laws are really strict.
