That was one of the first books I read also...very easy read and was definitely motivating to research even more.

And I "second" the not doing every problem (or even every page). It took me a bit to get this through my head especially for math. My middle daughter just doesn't need all the review. And because she's good at math but hates it, this has become crucial to her success. If she has to do every single problem that she's done for the last 2 month (we're using a spiral program), she's very frustrated by the repetitiveness (because she knows it). Now I like the spiral method but instead of doing 6 addition with carrying problems on lesson 86, I'll have her do 3. She knows that if ever she misses those 3, we'll fix those and she'll do the other 3. She hasn't had to do that yet. We only start the 1/2 stuff with older material. New material she does all the problems until she's "got" it.

We're using Horizons (which I really like) and even though she doesn't love math, she has all 100s or 99s on her first 8 tests. So it's working for her...even with only half of the review probs.

That was the first book I read, too. I heard her on Focus on the Family and God told me to order the book. I didn't really know why until I started reading. That was when I realized that I could do this.

My first book was "Educating the Whole-Hearted Child" by Clay and Sally Clarkson.

I just finished reading Lisa Whelchel's book yesterday and it's on top of the pile of books going back to the library. A friend recommended it to me and I really enjoyed it.

I haven't heard of "Educating the Whole-Hearted Child" and will look it up. Thank you so much for the recommendation! :D
