    Hello ladies.
just wondering how your routine goes when you or your children are sick.

My 5yrs. old is catching cold with a slight fever and I am not feeling great myself. We studied but very little with frequent break.

do you take the day off or just read books.
    How does go.

    Randa

I think it is up to you to do whatever you feel up to.
A child doesn't normally go to public school when they are sick. So, why should you feel the need to do school at home when your child is sick?
I've never really given it much thought. If I'm not feeling well, I will often just have the girls read to me or do some workbook pages or something constructive with their time.
Ashley doesn't get sick very often, but if she would, I wouldn't make her come and do schoolwork on those days. Gracie gets sick (with her asthma) quite often in the winter- I just play it by ear with her and do whatever she feels like doing.
    You're the mom- you decide!

We get lazy. When Vicki is sick or I am school is the last thing on my mind.

I agree with Heidi when the kids are sick and in ps you don't send them to school I wouldn't make mine do school if they are sick don't think they learn or anything sticks to them. When you are sick the last thing on your mind or there little minds is school you just want to rest. We will usually read or watch educational movies or just sleep what ever we feel we need. So, play by what think.

Rachael was sick a while back. We all slept in late, and even then she fell back asleep mid-morning. When she was up and doing better, I did give her a little work to do, but not too much. It's just so much harder to keep two working when one's sick!

I agree with you ladies. the reason we did a little of studying is because I could feel that my dd has some energy to cover basic reading and math. when she's really sick I would cancelled everything that we planned on doing and just relax.

I remeber last year I got very sick. NO ENERGY for anything. They just played all day and monitored by dh, while I just slept and after couple hours, they came to be with their storybooks to read..I couldn't resist. and that was it for a day.

Trevor hasn't been sick on school days since we started last year. But if he or I get really sick we would just take the day off and double up sometime down the road to catch up.

We do school all year even on Saturdays, if one of us is sick we just have a free day... Since we have school 6 days a week every week I feel like mmissing for sickness or whatever comes up is not a big deal.. we have plenty of other days to work when we feel well.

Wow, that is a lot of schooling! We aim for five days a week and sometimes we do four. If one of us is sick we cancel school. Mostly because when we are sick we tend to be grumpy which makes everyone a tad more sensitive and more prone to cry. If mom is sick school is cancelled because I am grumpy oh so grumpy! Luckily with hs'ing we all seem to be healthier. I don't worry about getting behind or catching up. As long as we finish all our schooling for this year before next August I am good!
