I have attempted to make tamales two times, both were disasters. :?

:love:My son decided he wanted to try making tamales yesterday and he made 4 dozen of the most delicious tamales from scratch that I have ever tried. OMGosh! I realize that I taught him how to cook but I never taught him how to make tamales.

:love:He's so cute, a lady at his work is turning 44 today, he is bringing tamales for everyone (along with a birthday card) to celebrate her birthday. My son's birthday was last week so they already did the cake thing.

:love:Just wanted to share my proud moment.

My eldest likes to make Tuna Salad...she's been playing with her recipe and she had me try it the other day. It was honestly, the best Tuna Salad I've ever had! Can't believe her!

A lady's husband that works with my husband sells tamalles for a dollar each. my DH brought some home but he said --- oh yeah she puts olives in them but they still have pits in them sometimes, ..........so I never gave them to the kids.

When I make red chili tamales, I put black olives in them, minus the pit.;)
It adds flavor that isn't over powering.

I understand completely! I taught my daughter to cook-nobody else just me . So I have her do her first loaf of bread from scratch. She does one and I do one.
And hers totally rocked ! So I am sitting there thinking what the heck ? She just has natural talent ! I am self taught. I couldn't cook my way out of a wet paper bag when I got married. Some man is going to llloooovvvvvvvveeeeeeee my daughter's cooking.

He LOVES to cook. The store he works for part time ran out of the pre-made pizza crusts so he asked the owner if he could make the pizzas from scratch until the new crusts come in. He was told to go ahead and there were sooooooooooo many compliments that the pizzas he made were the best they had tasted.
He felt it was better to fill the pizza orders than it was to turn the paying customers away. I think they realize he would do well if they gave him some hours in the deli in addition to his other duties.

He got the tamale recipe from www.buenochile.com
