I've been on here learning so much in the past few weeks. I pulled my youngest son Koy from ps after Christmas break and started homeschooling him. I am so glad i made that decision. He is 5 and has anxiety issues and he never really adjusted to school. He has come so far in just a few weeks. His anxiety is pretty much gone!! He is so smart and learns quickly which makes my job much easier. He is probably at a middle of 1st grade level. We love the Abeka program. It is pretty advanced but he does really well with it. I love how colorful it is for him. We do Abeka Math which I am so impressed with and I throw in Saxon math a few times a week too but Saxon is so boring and basic! But our schools here use Saxon so I wanted him to be familiar with it. I also have another DS Kade who is 8 and in ps 2nd grade. I am going to start hs him in the fall for 3rd grade. He races motocross and we are on the National tour this year going for the National title, which puts us in a new state every other weekend. We love it!! He is the State Champion here in Indiana. He races quads. Our oldest is our DD Taylor who is 12 and in ps 6th grade. She does so well in school. She has such a good head on her shoulders. She is a gifted athlete and singer. She wants to stay in school so she can play High School sports. I am a SAHM and my husband and I run our own Heating and Cooling Business.
Erica, I just wanted to say Hello! I saw your other post that you were from Knox. Wow, what a small world. I live in Lafayette now and don't get home often, but my parents farm in North Judson. Not very many people homeschool up that way, at least not that I know of. I graduated NJSP in 93. Blessings, Kristine
Welcome Erica! I'm also in NW Indiana...rural area outside of Valpo. I think you'll find great ideas and support here. Carol
