Apologia Jump In writing program, by Sharon Watson. Is anyone currently using this program. Maybe considering it for a future purchase?

Nellie, we must be twin HS moms:D...I just decided to use this next year too! I like how it explains things in ordinary language and speaks to the kid.

ColoradoMom - you are now a buddy of mine! LOL Did you happen to take a look at Lightning Literature also? Wondering if you had compared the two before you decided.

I had never heard of that one! But I just looked at it and my kids are super picky when it comes to reading - they are both excellent readers, but will flat out refuse to read things that don't interest them, so after LLATL with my oldest (which she refused to participate in) I gave up on literature programs. Now I pick the books myself and write up the study questions or look for some online.

    My kids are pains.

But I'm really excited about Jump In Writing - this looks like the ticket for my 10 yr old.:D

I know what you mean about kids not wanting to read things that do not interest them. The LL7 book selections are pretty decent. Though the LL8 ones I am not quite sure about.

LOL...I thought the same thing! I took a better look at it after writing that last post of mine. 7th he would do pretty much without complaint I think - but NOT 8th.

It looks like a good program though.

Coloradomom -From what you've looked at do think that the Jump In is more specifically for girls or boys. I am just wondering if you thought it would be better suited or good for either. I won't say what I think until you do. LOL you can always pm me too.

I didn't realize the mature content that was in Jump In. Just a surprise.

Hmm...I see one topic on page 31 in particular.

I have the text - got it about 2 weeks ago, but haven't really looked through it. Just glancing through it - maybe appears to be more boy oriented? I see a lot of things about history, sports, and men.
