I've read several posts asking questions about curriculum, people ordering for next year, etc... I'm in shock. I'm just trying to get through THIS year! lol Am I behind?

When do you start ordering and what's your favorite new curriculum you want to try? I'm always looking for new things for my (next year) 4th & 10th graders.

I order when we have 3 paychecks in a month. So usually sometime around March and August. I don't like to wait to order too much in August so I plan and order now! Plus DD was in need of a few items to complete this year.

I'm always buying books so my comments dont count. I have curriculum addiction lol.
I like to try out new books as money allows. If I'm in a rut I also buy a little something to help me get back into homeschooling. I'm always scanning ebay for good deals as well.

I'm scheming and planning right now, but not ordering anything yet.

I'm trying to gather all my thoughts and have questions, etc for when I go to our local convention in June. There's a convention in May that's a little bit further away but we're having out of town guests that weekend.

I usually try to order at convention...b/c they offer specials and deals and free shipping, usually.

I want to go into the convention with eyes wide open this time so I don't dump money on something I haven't investigated!

I'm still up in the air about what we're using for History/Geo and for Science...but I pretty much know the rest for my kids.

    :)

I usually try to order when I get my tax return, which is the ONLY reason I am thinking about it now. lol. Believe me, I would not plan this far in advance if I didn't use my return.

Well this is our first full year and I ordered our current curriculum last May....to beat the summer rush.

This year, I have most of the plan but have only ordered bit and pieces (when I needed to get my Rainbow Resource order to the free shipping mark at Christmas time).

You definitely aren't behind. It is nice to plan ahead so if I see something on sale then I can grab it. I still have a bit of tweaking to do for next year (as I seem to do almost daily with anything we do...lol).

Yes, I'm planning right now. Which amazes DH, btw. And I've received a kink in my plans as far as history goes, so it's a good thing I AM planning in advance, so I can have a Plan B ready to go.

But, as said, you really aren't behind. I've just found that some stuff (like Teaching Textbooks) I need to start looking for NOW if I want to find it used. I will have 90% of my stuff bought by the time the Conference is over the end of June.

I have been hs'ing all of 2 days now lol So I'm not planning anything in particular (I have no clue what works for dd). But I'm always looking and itching to buy a million different things to try out :)

Our year flips right about now. We are buying curriculum with income tax return, and so I've worked it so that our year flips right about the time we'll have money to get the materials. :)

I am planning out what I want to do for next year and also looking to see who has curriculum I can borrow to save some money. My sister has math and science that I can use so that will save us some money. I plan on taking that rebate check and have some of it in place for when I find good deals on curriculum. It kills me if I see a good deal on craigs list or something and I have not cash.

Ideas are brewing in my head but this is all. In the past, if I see something I like, I buy it. This has not been the case this year.

I also have ideas but I'm about 95% sure I'm sticking with the same thing we did this year.
I'll get a lot of mine at our conference in June.

    You and me both!

I have had my next year planned since January and I'm itching to order all of it right now. I'll probably order a few things early, we are starting 4 brand new programs next year so I like to look it over and plan stuff, make worksheets if I need to etc.

With SOME suppliers it IS a good idea to beat the summer rush. I've run into places that actually took the MONTH of June off and my order took forever to arrive! Never ordered there again!

We're flying through this year...I can't believe how much we've gotten done and it's only February.

Just yesterday my son was like "Yay this school year is almost over!" We usually stop around mid May. (Except math, we are usually behind in math)

jacqlyn and Coloradomom ~ I have the curriculum addiction too! LOL I just cannot help myself!

Also you are not behind! Remember the wonderful thing about homeschooling is that it is at YOUR pace not others!
Also I am finding that with everyone putting out there ideas for next year and such is really helping me find new ideas!

FYI for the newer people: Alpha-Omega has a sale in the spring every year, though I can't remember when exactly. That includes Horizons.

I think it's usually 20 % off in April and 15% in May.

Could be wrong but that seems like what it was last year. I still get mine from Rainbow Resources though.....when I added shipping....the discount wasn't worth it when I could get free shipping from RR.

But I always check to make sure.

Rhonda, that sounds like what I remember! The only AO I buy is Horizons Math workbooks for my youngest, so it's just as easy for me to get it at the conference, and then I go home with them in hand, from Rainbow.
