I went to a homeschool meeting yesterday and they told us we can apply to get a discount at Joann's boy we go there alot, I jump right on it and had no problem.
here's the site we go to because we all homeschool
    it's http://www.peah.com/joann.php
once you get in that web they will ask you to fill out some informantion then they will get give you all a code and then you have to go out of that web and go to Jo-ann.com and sign up in the teacher dicount store and fill out the form I did it with no trouble said my card will be here in 6-8 weeks can't wait.
If anyone has trouble let me know.
Also, what are some of the other stores you can get discount at for teaching.
    I know of halfpricebooks.com
    that's about it.

Kris, I'm confused about PEAH. Basically, you have to pay and they will keep you up to date on discounts as they become available? Do you have to join PEAH to receive the JoAnn's discount, since it's at their web site?

Yes, Jackie you have to join Peah to become a member of the teacher discount you don't have to pay for anything. I didn't. And you don't have to recieve anything you do't want too. Just don't mark the boxes or check the boxes. I had no trouble and they ask me for no money up front. Let me know if it works.

It depends on the JoAnns if you need the PEAH card or not. Ours here locally...they don't. A lot of time it just depends on the salesperson and how they have been educated. Different states have different requirements and ids and such. Texas...well it's a breed all it's own. ;)

Got mine discount card yesterday in a mail. It did say 8 weeks but got mine in alittle over a week wow that was wonderful.

Heather you go to the web site I posted Pech and then go to the site that says teacher dicount hit and fill out all the stuff they ask you too. Then you have to go to Joann's site and finish up and you are done. No Money ask here.

Good luck any more trouble let us know

If you have Hobby Lobby in your state they have started running 40% off coupons on their website. It has very few restrictions and is a great discount!)

Which reminds me! Half-Price Books is having their Teacher/Librarian Appreciation sale Friday Oct. 21-Sunday, Oct. 32. That's 20% off to teachers/librarians. If you don't have a card for them, you can still get the discount. You'll need to fill out a form for a new card, anyway! They WILL want some proof of homeschooling. It says you should "provide verification from their state or local homeschooling organization where applicable". I have also taken a copy of the letter sent to me from the district, "excusing" me to homeschool and it was accepted just fine.

I don't know where the other thread is where the other discounts places are but I wanted to let you know that if any of you live by a Border's book store they are having an educators discount special this weekend ( I think its for all the stores) if you don't have a card for there yet, tell them you homeschool and if you have any proof bring it, but I didn't need any. I even got to print out a coupon from thier website for a free seattles best beverage!
