Maybe I'm just slow to have discovered this since I don't shop much (except at the Dollar tree and USed Bookstore LOL).

Today i was at walmart and on my list to get was oone of those disposable cameras. I've always dreamed of having a digital camera but never had the money to get one. So I'm standing there about to pick up the disposable and I saw a real Digital Camera for $12! :!: I sprung for a "better" one that came with make your own storybook software for $19 (Snap Kids, Kids Cam) mostly expecting it to be a mean joke. (I'm such a pessimist!)

So I checked out the software and it's not too bad... as good as the one I checked out from the library except it had no clipart, I suppose they expect me to take some pictures. It has borders for diffrent story types, and a way to enter a title and a story, their little ad for it on the packaging was a report on the solar system. It also imported pics I had on my computer and I had a little slide show right off the bat.

The pictures seem to be very good for a cheapo camera... except there is no flash. but it also takes Short VIDEO shots and works as a web cam.

So anyways, i'm all excited I can quit borrowing my step-dad's BROKEN camera or buying disposables and thought I'd share my find in case some of you are interested for your kids projects or maybe a Christmas Present for the kids.

Warning about video cameras (IE: what the small print DOESN'T tell you!):

It will eat up batteries, ESPECIALLY if you do the Video Clip! Use that feature VERY sparingly! I would suggest you have more than one set of batteries, change them frequently, and invest in a battery recharger. If you go on a field trip, be sure to take extra batteries along just in case; if you go on vacation, take double or triple extra batteries with you!

I have that one too and I find that it easily looses the pics too...maybe mine is defective IDK, never figured I would do anything about it if it is since the kids only use that one and it was so cheap...but loosing pics can be avoided by downloading them RIGHT away.

Some cheap ones work fairly well but to get a very nice digital camera you need to invest several hundred. Mine was about $4oo. Husband got it for me at Christmas. It is the kodak easy share. Everyone i know who has one loves it.

We got an awsome digital camera at Walmart for about $70. It was the display model...I would look out for deals like that...Ours is a samsung digimax 301 and it is awsome! Ok, it is not as great as the one that my mother has but I didn't spend upwards of $500 on ours either. My only complaint about ours is that sometimes if what we are taking a pic of is in motion, sometimes it gets blurry whereas my mothers takes a perfect "freeze frame" everytime.

I have a didgital camera, it didn't come with a memory card, so I have to download all the pics right a way, it says it can be used as a little video camera but I haven't done that, its ok, and I know we can get a memory card and I do know that if you get the pictures to some where like cosco and get them developed like real pictures pretty cheap but I still like my reagular every day camera, I am just really bad at taking the film in to get it developed, but I like my double prints so I have some for the family. My step dad has a very nice didgital and he takes nice pictures, but he doesn't get them printed out right a way, my mom and he went on a cruise last year and he still hasn't gotten them printed out, and she bought all kinds of cute stuff to put together a photo album. It took him almos 7 years  to print out the photos of his daughter's wedding so they could put them in an album for her.

I've been playng around with it since I got it. Naturally my Step-dads $500 Digital camera has higher Quality pictures but I didn't ezpect them to be great.

Right before i went to bed I tried to download some pics and it said there were none. Ithought that was odd... This morning they were all there. I don't know what that was about, maybe I was just tired and did it wrong.

When I use regular cameras, I never get the film developed (Once I took in a roll I didn't know what was on it and it was a vacation for 7 years before!) then on the rare occasions I do get it developed I put the pictures in a box... to "do something with later", later never arrives. But when I use digital cameras, The pics are on my computer, I email them to family, I play with them in editing programs, I save them in slide shows and I occasionally find a shot that I wish I could hang on the wall and then I go in to walmart or walgreens and pint them. So even a lousy digital works better for me than the fanciest film camera.

I lady at wal-mart told me she LOVES her digital camera she got there for $35 and another friend got a fairly nice one with a fancy docking and printing center included for only $90 so I guess the price is going down some...

Is it a digital disposable or a regular digital? They also make disposable digital cameras now as well. When we get a new computer (can't wait to get rid of this dumb laptop) we will probably look into getting a digital camera. I love using my mom and dads. They got theirs at Wal-mart for like $150 I think.

The tails of the undeveloped film bring me to one of my biggest things to procrastinate on...My son is 7 yrs old. You would think that I would desperately want the pics from when he was born (and I do) but I still have a roll of film from the day of his birth that needs to be developed. I found it just the other day, after finding and putting it to the side about 2 months ago, and a few months before that, and a few months before that...well, you see the pattern here. Thank goodness for my digital camera now, and for us, if family wants prints, we simply email them or make them a disc...as a matter of fact that is one of our projects for Christmas. It is a year in review cd for our mothers and the aunts and uncles.

My camera was one off the clearance table at Wal-mart. It was a $277.00 camera. I got it for $157.00. It is a Sony 2.0megapixel. They let me put it in lay-a-way(usually they won't, but maybe because it was so much?). I have had it about 1 year and have only replaced the batteries twice. I love it! The kids love to see their pictures on the computer instantly and I don't mind taking a pic of every little clay man. I would never do this if I was having to pay for my pics. I do still keep my 35mm camera for field trips and vacations though. I feel better that i might actually have a hard copy and not just on the computer(my usual with my digital camera). I will save the ones on my digital camera and take it to Wal-mart if I really get some good ones that I want copies of.
