Hi! I was referred here by my friend Kari. I have 2 girls, ages 6 & 10, who currently attend public school. Both are doing well, but I really want to homeschool them next year. I am reading now, getting forms together, and discussing all this with DH. I have lots of reasons for wanting to do this, but am afraid I will fail! Anyway, I am anxious to get to know you all, and learn more!
Welcome, I am Katie! I have been homeschooling my kids since K to present (13 years) with Abeka and Abeka Academy. Feel free to ask any questions or just chat with us!
Welcome! I am Patty. We are in our fifth year of homeschooling. As long as you have the desire to teach your children, you can't fail because you will always be striving to make sure it gets done.
Welcome! We've been homeschooling for just over a year. My kids did well in their Dept of Defense school in Kentucky. When we moved in Virginia, we started homeschooling. It's been great. Can't promise you that you won't have a bad day now and then but overall, it's awesome. There is alot of read out there and I think I've read everything my brain could handle....but whether you read it all or not...you won't fail your kids because you love them and they know that. It is a bit harder to deschool them and myself....unless you want a strict school at home schedule, take the summer time to ease into a homeschooling lifestyle. Everything you do teaches them. It doesn't have to be 4 hours of worksheets (I keep saying this to myself....my kids hate worksheets, I always liked them). Rhonda C.
Welcome! We are on our 11th year of homeschooling. When we first started I was so afraid of failing, then I realized that no one cares more about my kids' education than I do!
I was going to encourage you with this same thought, so I'll just say "ditto". There are so many excellent resources available to homeschoolers now; I think once you've researched it, you and your husband will just be excited about the possibilitites.
Thanks for the welcome! We are still talking through it, but I think once DH gets the idea that hsing is public school done at home out of his head, we can make progress!
Hi! I am in the same boat that you are -- reading and deciding what I am going to do next year. My kiddos are younger than yours though, I have triplets who will turn five in a couple of weeks. I have been researching homeschooling for a while now. They "should" be enrolled in full-day kinder at the public school this August and I am really wanting to homeschool. Tara
