If I had to buy HS internet separately before my phone service I'd have to pay close to $100 for my phone service/internet combo. So not having Vonage saves me tons of money. Also, from what others who have it have told me, you don't get 911 service. Anyhow, I'll be interested to see what kind of employee discount they give me next week. It will be nice to have the phone bill drop.
Our phone bill - Three way calling, Caller Id, Call Waiting, Unlimited local calls and High Speed Internet, taxes included, costs $46.79. Our cell phone bill - This is with 5 cell phone, my dh, mine, mil, fil and my dad - 1400 total minutes to be used between the 5 of us - $135.79 - they each pay for their own part. Our part of the bill is $80.00. They divide up the rest. Cable Bill - We have basic cable - 23 channels - $13.61 These bills include all the taxes, too.
That's incredibly cheap!! Will that be offered once everything goes digital or high definition or whatever it is? (No HDTV's in our house)
Yep.....that is what we have, too, and love it. We haven't had any problems at all and I get to talk to all of my family free anytime I want to for as long as I want....free long distance it GREAT!
We have 911 service......I wonder why they don't? That's weird. If you don't already have the internet service that is required to have Vonage, then it would cost you more.
We discontinued our landline and went for only cell phones because we are never at home once baseball season hits! (it has begun for this year already) 4 cell phones, 3 of them with unlimited texting and photo options, unlimited minutes runs us $140 per month. Average internet connection (run via cable but NOT DSL) costs us $49 per month. We would like to get cable but will end up with satellite due to pricing around here and it will still cost us $45/month not including local channels for basic. Local channels are an extra $5/month each.
I am under a contract. I think I have about another year and a half, more or less. After my first contract was up, I wasn't going to go with another contract. Then I changed my mind.
We were eligible for an early phone upgrade, you should check into when you can upgrade your phone if interested. We were fortunate that when ds' cell phone went through the hot wash with an extra rinse cycle and 30 minutes in the dryer it worked after it dried out for several days. We had just upgraded! The phone was going to cost us $175.00 if we had to replace it. We had donated the phone that we upgraded from to the sheriffs' office to give to domestic violence victims because the 911 feature works even though it is not activated. No good deed goes unpunished is what I thought when the new phone wouldn't work after it's adventure in the laundry.
I just had my phone upgraded. Actually it was a couple months ago. What is ironic is my old phone worked better than my new phone.:| I have insurance on the phone, I think it is an additional $4-something a month. Handsome keeps telling me to exchange the phone but I just haven't done it yet.
