Hi! I am Julie, a South African currently living in The Netherlands with my husband and 3 daughters (Kelly, 3mnths; Nicole, 6 yrs; and Megan, 7 yrs).
We have been homeschooling for 2 years using Sonlight (currently using Intro to World History). We love the books but find it a challenge to keep to the schedule.
So we may change curriculum next year. And since we don't have the wonderful curriculum fairs here in Europe that are so common in the US, any suggestions for a curriculum would be welcome - I would like something with more integration between subjects and lots of hands-on activities. Heart of Wisdom is currently top of the list.
Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all and sharing ideas!

Hello, and welcome. I want to welcome you. I use A Beka DVD program, so I'm of no help. I'm sure there are others here with some suggestions. Good to have you aboard.

Welcome!! We use a very eclectic mix including Sonlight Core 3 for my oldest (just history and adv. readers).

www.rainbowresource.com has a ton on info on just about everything on their website. They have a huge catalog too but I have no clue whether they mail them out of the country but you could ask.

We're switching to Rod & Staff for English (very no frills). They mail out samples and I'm pretty sure they would mail them anywhere. We're in the process of moving so I don't have their number but if you go to www.anywho.com and look them up in the yellow pages in Crockett, KY....you should get them. Some Anabaptist bookstores online carry their stuff....I've always just ordered it direct.

OH Gma already mentioned Abeka...we're using some of their stuff as well and BJU Press is another option you might check.

I'm sure other folks will chime in soon....actually, you might post under the regular HS threads to get more response.

    Welcome again!

Hi! We use Sonlight and frankly we don't worry too much about their set schedule! :D We just do it at our pace and we add stuff in and take stuff out, and we do it the way we want. I think it is set up very scheduled for people who need that, but we just go through it more as a list. So, we could be doing a Wednesday lesson on a Monday on the wrong week and we tend to catch up and fall behind as we look more in depth in more specific areas etc. I still love Sonlight because my kids love it. I just don't hold myself so tightly to the schedule.

I hope that helps and if it doesn't than I hope you find what you need! :)

Welcome! I really hope you enjoy it here as much as all of us do.
We are also eclectic. I use a many different things. We are a very hands on family. We use home science adventures, Right start math, for history this year we are going to use History of US with add on projects. Like making 3D maps, using history scribes and pockets, and stuff like that.
So, as you can tell we are not set to one thing or curriculum in general. I get on the internet and start picking and choosing.

Thank you all for your warm welcome! :D
staying6: Like you, I have been using the schedule as a checklist! So any integration between subjects is now totally lost. I definitely think unit studies will work better for us - I just need to find the right one.
rmcollinsx5: Thank you, I will take your advice and ask on the general curriculum list.
