Has anyone ordered any of their stuff? I want to make a decision about next year by the end of this week. I recieved their catalog in the mail and am IMPRESSED by what they offer and how affordable they are. I'm going to an Abeka display on Thursday. Anyone have any experience w/ clp?

YES, that was what I used my first year of homeschooling 10 years ago. I really liked most of it. I like their spelling and Bible especially.

Their curriculum is "no frills" so it doesn't have pretty pictures all over and stuff. But my son did fine with it, and when we wanted pretty pictures we'd look at the myriads of books we had. ;) Of course, I can understand how that can help gain interest, so I'm not putting down beautiful pictures at all! And they do have pictures, but they're mostly black and white.

What I appreciated was that the content is good, and they go out of their way to print their own materials and make those available for a minimal price! My church prints educational materials as well---but they're so expensive, I can't afford to use them! That makes me sad! :( Also, they have Answer Keys to some A Beka materials that they sell for hardly anything, so if you were to go with A Beka, check CLP for answer keys!!!

As I used it, I'd skip over parts I didn't think were needed and used other things to supplement. But really, they don't push religion, they push Godliness! BIG difference, and another thing I was impressed with!

If you have any other questions, let me know!

We've only just started using the Bible curriculum, and I'm also impressed.

Godliness and not religiosity, and very thorough without being pages and pages of "read this, answer these". It includes actual Bible reading and a memory verse, which we enjoy, and a short synopsis of the story. Then there are a few comprehension questions, and some EXCELLENT (imho) "thought" questions.

I've also heard great things about their spelling. Before book E, we've decided to go with Heart of Dakota's curriculum, but mostly just because I think it's too much reading for a K-er at the first levels.

That is whom I ordered some of my school materials through this year, and where I got my ideas for what is out there for the appropriate ages.

We used CLP for the first five years of homeschooling and really liked it. Year six (sixth grade and fourth grade for two oldest) they thought they wanted something different so we tried the Paces through ACE. NOT a good fit for our family, so went back to CLP to finish the year. This year we are using SOS for 7th and 5th, and youngest is using CLP. We liked the program, and my kids are still working their way through some of the extra readers, etc that come with each year.

    Hope that helps- MT3

I just ordered the "History for Little Pilgrims" (and coloring books/grade 1), "History Stories for Children" (grade 3), and the MCP Math, Level B (grade 2).

I really like everything...my DD is finishing up 1st and going into 2nd, i.e. we have started the MCP Math this week. (I know MCP math is not published by CLP, but they sell it.) I think the history books I ordered are EXCELLENT! I like the short stories...I do hx a bit informally, usually reading to them while they are playing in the backyard. I'm thinking of ordering some other stuff from them, possibly bible and the Liberty Nature Readers.

I did my order from CBD because they had free shipping and they have samples of the books online.
