We have been using Abeka Language since K5. Vicki is in the 5th grade this year. They are wanting her to write a 800-900 word report. This is to be a library research report. I don't mind the report but I do mind the 800-900 words for a 5th grader. We are going to shorten the report for ourselves.

My question is their another good Language program tht is good but not so heavy with work. Vicki needs a lot of hands on. I know Language isn't a real hands on subject but please help me find something that isn't so demanding.

    Thanks for the help.

Well I use Life pac and my girls have been writing long reports since 4th grade so I just thought it was common. Yes they don't like it but I try hard to find a subject they want to learn and they do so well then they don't even know they are doing a big report.

My usual answer: Rod & Staff English. You may have to start back a level or so, but it's a great program (at least for us)!

We are huge fans of "Teaching Writing Structure and Style" and "Student Writing Intensive" from the Institute for Excellence in Writing.
