Check with your local Pizza Hut. They've let me use mine after the supposed 30-day limit is up. They realize people get busy and may not be able to get there. Doesn't hurt to ask. This is a good PR thing for them and they probably don't want irritated families.

Carol, I never thought of asking!!! Last year, I was so frustrated to find we let our last one expire. Great idea!!!

You do not have to use October's coupon in October, etc.
When Ashley was in public school, they would not get the October coupon 'til sometime in the middle of November or so. Being that one person had to go through all those calendars and issue the coupons, I guess it was alot of work, and took time. So, it might have been the coupon for October's reading, but was dated November 20th and didn't expire 'til December 20th. Does that make sense?
We did already use our October coupon. My girls have both been reading like crazy, so they had met their goal very early in the month. Guess I'll have to make November's goal something else!
Anyway, I don't write the date on our coupons until right before we leave to use them. That way, I don't have to worry about them expiring!!!
It does say on the coupons that the last one (for March) expires on May 1st. I would think that you Pizza Hut would still honor the coupon. The question is whether or not they still have the medallions left to honor the kids at the end.

Heidi, my girls read like crazy, too, but mostly mysteries and other fiction. I finally started setting my goals for reading non-fiction...history, culture, science, nature, etc. Also, you could set it up for Bible reading if you want. Just some ideas!

Oh, Jackie, thanks~ I like the Bible reading idea!
To be perfectly honest, I didn't even set a goal for Gracie in October~ she just reads and reads and reads~ so I knew it wasn't a problem.
With Ashley~ she enjoys reading too and her reading has really improved over the past year. But, she doesn't care much for writing~ or, should I say, she has trouble summarizing or doing book reports~ so I actually had set her goal to do 3 book reports for October. I found some "unconventional" methods for book reports, and she seemed to like it alot better that way.
November's goal will be Bible reading, though!

We are doing Book-It also. We used our Oct. coupon in TN on a trip their last week. They have dd a card w/ ring and a medallion. The medallion was 2004-2005. I guess they had some left over from last year? Anyway, glad we used it. The only Pizza Hut left around here isn't that great.

We never got a medallion! Which is fine with me. I already have no idea what to do with all the soccer trophies around the house. The kids get one EVERY season, sometimes more than one depending on how the team does!

We went yesterday and I was thinking that they don't get many of the coupons there because I had to ask for the card they should get the first time and then she had to hunt for the little sticker that goes on them but they were happy with the little card they could put their name on and that on the back it had a little picture that changed image when you moved it.

Okay, so a sticker goes on the little card? I was wondering about that. I thought maybe you punched a hole in it for each month?

I went today to get it set up. The manager showed me the little green dot stickers and gave Sami her pizza and her Book it card. ... much fancier than I espected LOL. he said they don't have the cupons, that I have to get them from a local school. I checked online and all I could find to get them was a address to fax for more info?? I don't have a fax machiene. I decided I'd ask at the school I teach afterschool programs at. Maybe since I work there I can just wheedle some extras out of them.. How did you guys get yours?

We signed up for them on-line back in May or June. Didn't need to fax anything, though. They are probably saying fax because the program has already started. You tell them how many students, and they will send enough certificates.

Oh yeah, I forgot about it already, thanks for the reminder! My kids read a LOT! I don't worry about assigning them a certain amount, cuz I know they read plenty, much more than a school would require. But I like the idea of counting Bible reading, I haven't done that. I also like the idea of setting book REPORT goals. Maybe that'd help my ds to write if he gets pizza for it! :)

well now I'm desprate to get some coupons.. though I think the Pizza hut here would let us do it without them.

This worked TOO well with Sami. She had started avoiding reading lesson cause she dosn't like the th sound. So I told her her reading goal for pizza was 10 lessons and she cried today because I wouldn't let her do 6 lessons today. LOL

Actually, I think Sami is too young for Book-It. She's only four, right? It's pretty much grades K-6. This is my son's first year, and he's all excited about it.

She's at a first grade reading level now and quickly improving. She can write at that level too (spellingwise), her handwriting is nice if she has lines, without lines it's all over the place and she starts leaving out letters and stuff like that. I can't figure out what's with th bothering her right now, she can say it fine... I thik she just dosn't like the way it looks in print or something. She went from begging to do 3 lessons a day (I insisted on only 1) to saying she didn't want to learn to read any better and would go in her room and practice handwriting by writing stories on my tile floor with crayon instead of her notebook where I'd see it right off.

for math she is just now starting 1st grade stuff and everything else is kinder. So I deemed her Kinder for now.

Anyhow book it Pizza seems to be enough to make th worth reading.

my friend Heather showed her a Junie B. Jones book and Sami saved up her allowance to buy it. She is determined to read it herself. I thik I'll remind her tht theres th's in Junie B. Jones so she will have to learn them.

We have already used ours for this month. The coupons we have do not have a date on them though. There is a blank for me to fill it, but I did not do it. We just went it and got them their pizza's. They were so proud of themselves and very excited to have their own pizza all to themselves. :p

Sami sounds a lot like my oldest. In your case, I bet it's all the personal attention given to her by Mommy! There's another series that's just about the same level as Junie B. Jones, but I can't remember what it is right now. If I think of it, I'll let you know. Rachael visited her friend's classroom one day for about a half-hour, and the teacher was reading it. CAM JANSEN!!! Rachael remembered for me!!! They're mysteries, and if Sami can read Junie, she can read these fine!
