I was wondering if anyone else keeps grades for homeschool? Can someone send me what you use for calculating?

I haven't kept grades in the past but, my oldest is in jr high and I would like to start keeping GPA's now.

    Thanks

    Kristina

which computer program are you using? some windows programs have a teacher/ student programs. you can check to see if yours has a grade book program. i know our old one had one and that is what i use. it does it all for you. all you have to do is put your subjects where the names go and you can even change the title and put your own schools name on it. you can even change the grading scale. ex: 95 can be an A or a B. its up to you.
I think it is windows 98 that has it. not for sure.

Kristina, I do keep some grades for my oldest, who is 11. I keep her math test scores, and can easily give a letter grade based on those. I'd use the 90-100 A, 80-89 B, etc. I also have been keeping her history tests, and could give her a grade on that. We are also doing two "Total Language Plus" books this year. I assign her one unit, and give her 1 1/2 weeks to finish it, before assigning the other. I go over the completed unit, and am giving a grade for it. It is rather arbitrary, though. I will then average those grades for a "final" book grade. We also do French on-line. The kids take an on-line test for each unit, and record their scores in my book.

This is the first year I've really kept track of grades, though I did keep math scores for her last year. The only "grades" I keep for my younger daughter is in French, because it's so easy to do.

I keep grades for my ds even though he is only in Kindergarten. We use the ABEKA program and they make it really easy to keep grades. The teacher edition of the workbooks gives exactly how many points each is worth and then the lesson plans tells you what letter grade to put. They also provide the forms to keep track of their grades. I like this because it really does help in evaluating what he is and isn't learning.
