It's fun seeing what all of you experiences homeschoolers are doing :)

It gets much more complicated as they get older, I am glad that my guys are still young and we are pretty relaxed. Here's what I have planned so far:

DS 7 (in July) and first grade next year

Thematic Units (these cover science and geography and a little history so far. Probably focus alot of habitats next year, my boys love animals and I want them to learn not only about the animals but the areas they live in)
    Learningpage.com worksheets
    Horizons math
    Math manipulatives
    Explode the Code
    Bible Story books
    Handwriting from various sources online
Memory verses from church (will also use these for handwriting)
Reading will be books we own or from the library

DS 4 (in June) joins us for Bible stories, theme books, math manipulatives, and an occasional worksheet from learningpage.com or books we have.

THanks so much Tiffany!!!!! I will be checking out that website. My kids and I are sick to death of workbooks and things like that. I am very hands on but I use the workbooks and texts to keep us on track. However, this year has been less hands on and more workbook based...UGH...we are all frustarted and bored. I think this approach will be a nicer one. My dd hates reading unless she likes the books...lol..then she can read a ton. So, I am thinking if I incorporate more of her education in this direction things may go smoother...maybe...it is worth a shot.

I can't wait to delve into that website...I don't have the time today but soon I will.

Ava I think if you spend any amount of time reading those websites you will fall in love with this approach. I spent so much time researching the theory behind her method before deciding it was right for us. I hope you find a litterary approach that works for you guys.

Hi everybody, here's what we're doing-

    DS 10
Sonlight for history, reading, and English
    Lifepacs for math
Bible, we'll do our own thing
    science, not sure yet
    sequential spelling

    DS 6
Sonlight for history and some reading
Scaredy Cat for reading and spelling
    Horizons for math
    Bible, our own thing
    not sure about science

I think that's all, I don't do a lot of frills, just the basics.

Jr Red Cross is "club" through the Red Cross. We just started it so I don't have a lot of details but for now this is what we do:
-monthly mtgs- learn a skill or service project( soup kitchen etc)
-host 1 or 2 blood drives
    - we did a fund raiser for local disasters
That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure your local Red Cross would have more info.

OH WOW...I never really put time into learning much about Charlotte Manson before. However, after reading more I think I found a kindred spirit! LOL. Now, I think I will have to rethink my original plans. Math U See for my dd and Singapore for my ds still but everything else may change!

That's what's good about sharing stuff like this. You see what others are doing and ask questions, and maybe find new things to try! I've enjoyed reading through what everyone is doing!

Ava, you MAY also want to look up the Robinson Method and A2. They're with classics as well. I don't know much about them, I've just heard about them.

I just realized I linked to teh wrong section. Hopefully this will be the right one. This is how I plan to break down year 7 with only a couple of minor adjustments.

I just wanted to mention that Mere Christianity is a hard read, it should be read and discussed if you are talking 7th grade level? Dd read it for her History literature class this year in 10th.

Mere Christianity is actually one we are omitting. The link I posted has the basic 36 week break down but there are a couple of things we are omitting and a couple of things we are adding. If you look back on page 1 of this thread that is where I posted exactly what we will be doing. I think we will save Mere Christianity for the high school years.

    You're welcome!

Hey guess what? I found Lightning Lit7 for dd! That was the other thing I was looking for! Oh my! I found the R&S math and this yesterday and today for WAY cheaper than new! WooHoo! :D

Oh, and I also forgot to add--I'm doing some logic with dd as well. She was too young for the logic I had before for the boys (mind benders and red herring), so I'm starting her simply (since I haven't gotten around to it for her  ) with the Dandylion series. I ordered those yesterday.

I also found a TT Geometry set for sale and asked about it. Hopefully I'll hear back soon!

So I think I'm about done with ordering! YAY!
