OK... this board has become exceptionally quiet since the a thread was closed last week... did everyone leave or what? I hope not... I hope we can all look beyond it all and make the forum a fun learning experience again...
In know that some have left... maybe it seems quiet today because it's Sunday (and I didn't think about that when I posted... I've noticed Sunday's have been quieter days).
I guess bc I am new nothing seems different to me. I still very unfamiliar to everyone and everything. Hopefully, that will change.
Thanks Brenda. I will fit in bc we are all weirdos, right? We are homeschoolers and that automatically makes us strange, huh? (I am completely kidding, just so you all know. I am completely aware that we are the NORMAL ones!)
Well, maybe YOU consider yourself normal, but if that's so, you're the only one around here who is!!! BAAAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA
We aspire to a different plane of normality than "normal folk".... My kids tell me I am weird- but since the tone of voice usually has a small amount of "awe" in it- I take it as a compliment!! lol Things have been a little quiet it seems, but my life has been crazier (okay, grammatically- more crazy) so I just thought it was me! I haven't posted in weeks, but have been able to pop in once in a while and read posts. momx3
Well, Momx3, last week when I figured that one of my middle child's AWANAS verses could be done to the Bunny Hop (IE: Encourage one another, Build each other up! Just as you've been doing!...and here it gets a little hard to say the verse, which I THINK is 1st Thessalonians something-or-other) my children KNEW I had flipped, LOL! I warned them that if they weren't good, I'd tell the Commander of their AWANAS program, who would just on a whim have the whole group line up and hop around the gym saying it.... Even my kids know that Mom's not quite as strange is Mr. K is. Oh, I might add that Mr. K is a homeschooler, too, LOL!
Oh Jackie- that is fantastic!! I read your Halloween candy graphing to my kids (they later were found sorting and counting in one of their rooms!). We recently went to an Answers in Genesis seminar (TOO COOL!)- and now we catch each other singing some of the songs- we have been changing words around too! momx3
EWWWW...I'm so jealous!!! I love listening to Answers in Genesis on the radio. My kids just like is accent . I missed saying "hello" I think, too. I'll have to take a look in case I missed you on the Introductions board. Welcome!
Brooke- Ken Ham starts by telling the kids that they will have to listen especially hard to him speaking, because he speaks "proper" English- not our American stuff (he did little digs about America vs Australian, Australian always being superior of course!). We came home and now my oldest son wants to learn proper English- I told him that will take a little more prep time for his teacher (me!) !! So lately we have been identifying slang as we come upon it in speech- and it happens a lot! The seminar had Mr Ham and Mr Buddy Davis- they were great together. The boys were able to meet both men and get their autographs in the boys' journals- plus I was able to take their picture with Mr Davis. I should get the pics back this week- I hope they turn out! momx3
Ken Ham spoke at our homeschool conference a few years back. I think of all the speakers we've heard over the year, DH got more from him than anyone! He (Ken Ham) will be coming back this year, and my oldest will be old enough to go and hear him!
I believe Ken Ham was at our convention as well, but I didn't go in for his seminars. I receive their e-mails and newsletters in the mail~ what an awesome organization they have going there~ and a great resource for Christian homeschoolers. I would love to go to one of their seminars sometime!
Yes, Jackie~ that's an awesome idea! When it opens, you plan the field trip, since you're the closest, ok?! I'd love to come out!
My daughter likes Steve Green and The Donut Man---they sing songs that are Bible verses, and act them out and stuff. I thought of that, Jackie, because Steve Green does a song with that text, "Encourage one another, and build each other up."
But does he do the Bunny Hop to it, LOL? We have both Prayer Bear and a Donut Man video, though my kids haven't seen them in a LONG time.....
